Reccoa Londe (レコア・ロンド Rekoa Rondo?) is a character from the Zeta Gundam television series of the fictional Gundam Universe.

[edit] Story

Reccoa was tall, with a warm face and short red hair. She has been a soldier since she was about 14. She was a guerilla during the One Year War and soon after briefly joined the Federal Forces until becoming disillusioned with them. As of 0087, she joined the AEUG and is based on their carrier Argama at the beginning of their conflict with the Titans. Reccoa carries the rank of ensign and works closely with Quattro Bajeena, Henken Bekkener and Blex Forer and often carries out intelligence missions at their request.

Despite being a soldier since childhood, Reccoa was quiet and soft spoken but easygoing and affable. Her favorite pastime was taking care of the plants that she kept in her quarters. Reccoa, admittedly, had no political or personal agendas of her own so this is why she could drift from one cause to another. She sometimes confided to others that she wouldn't know how to live without danger in her life and that might be why she often volunteered for dangerous missions. She also thought that it may be because she had never had a good man in her life. "There are only men and women in this world", she muses. "There has to be something to that."

A skilled pilot and spy, she also helped AEUG newcomer Kamille Bidan adjust to his new position aboard Argama. She was also one of the first to welcome Titans defector Emma Sheen despite widespread suspicions and helps her realize that she made the right choice; most notably by proving to her that the infamous 30-Bunch incident (where an entire colony was killed by poison gas) was carried out by none other than Colonel Bask Om of the Titans.

Reccoa was chosen for the infiltration of Earth Federation headquarters Jaburo in South America. She was quickly captured along with investigative reporter Kai Shiden whom she met soon after landing on Earth. Both are imprisoned but promptly forgotten about when AEUG attacks Jaburo. Time is running out as the evacuating Titans set a nuclear bomb to destroy the overrun base. Kamille finds Reccoa, however because of a Newtype aura from her, thus she and Kai are rescued before Jaburo is destroyed.

Reccoa, unsure of herself after her perceived failure at Jaburo, quickly volunteered for the next important mission, the infiltration of Titans supply ship Jupitris, under the command of Paptimus Scirocco. She encountered Scirocco who sensed she was a spy but inexplicably allowed her to return to base. Strangely enough, upon debriefing, she did not mention her encounter with him.

Reccoa was later seen aboard Argama as uncharacteristically withdrawn and distracted. In a failed attempt to reach a negotiation with the Axis remnants of Zeon, Reccoa was injured by gunfire from Haman Karn. Despite her injury and Quattro and Kamille's protest, she subsequently entered a mobile suit battle with Yazan Gable's Hambrabi Team. Reccoa was easily defeated by Yazan who captured her from her ruined mobile suit. Her abduction was unseen by Argama's crew, and Reccoa's apparent death demoralizes them and especially upsets Kamille.

In actuality, Reccoa, sensed that she was getting closer to the source of her "distraction" and decided to inexplicably change sides and join the Titans. The Titans initially distrusted her, believing that she was an AEUG spy. To prove herself, she was forced by Colonel Bask Om to lead a mission that will use poison gas (the same type used in the 30-Bunch incident) to exterminate another colony. Reluctantly, she carried out the mission hoping that Kamille and Argama would arrive in time to stop her. Although he did, Reccoa was unable to stall giving the order to her wingmen to carry out Bask's orders and millions of colonists are killed. Reccoa was later transferred to Scirocco (a powerful newtype) on Jupitoris. Scirocco told her that the men on Argama did not understand her and that with him she could find fulfillment. Thus she becomes one of Scirocco's pilots, piloting the prototype Pallas Athena. The anime does not state for certain whether Scirocco (a powerful Newtype) was using natural charisma and psychology or powerful Newtype abilities to brainwash Reccoa. Later scenes in the series also showed that Scirocco was using Reccoa as a target of jealousy from his other moll, Sara Zabiarov so that she would push herself harder for him. No indication was given that Reccoa was unhappy aboard Argama prior to meeting Scriocco and her betrayal was initially met with disbelief. In battle, Reccoa met Kamille and Fa who unsuccessfully attempted to convince her to return to AEUG. Reccoa claimed to hate Char due to his insensitivity and his superior attitude although, because Char was usually depicted as a workaholic, it is uncertain whether this refers to actions offscreen, though in the movies they kissed, thus explaining her hatred. Her final act of love for her former comrades was to warn Argama to retreat from the Gryps laser's line of fire.

During the last battle, in revenge for Bask's cruel order to poison the colonists, Reccoa intentionally fired at the bridge of Bask's ship, Dogosse Gierre destroying it and him. However, she was put in the unfortunate position of having to fight Emma who also tries to convince her to feel the deaths of Henken, Katz, Apolly, and the other AEUG members who died since she left. Reccoa's mobile suit wrecked by Emma, Yazan delivers the death blow killing her and fatally injuring Emma, who had exited her mobile suit to check if Reccoa was still alive. Reccoa's spirit appeared with Emma and other deceased friends to encourage Kamille in his final battle with Scirocco.

Reccoa's last words were "Men are perhaps born to fight each other. And women are perhaps fated to be their tools.
