Placanica (Greek: Lakonikà) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Reggio Calabria in the Italian region Calabria, located about 60 kilometres south of Catanzaro and about 80 kilometres northeast of Reggio Calabria. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,383 and an area of 29.3 km².[1]
Placanica borders the following municipalities: Caulonia, Pazzano, Stignano.
