Benestare is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Reggio Calabria in the Italian region Calabria, located about 90 km southwest of Catanzaro and about 40 km east of Reggio Calabria. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,442 and an area of 18.6 km².[1]

The municipality of Benestare contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Ammendolare, Ancone (Greek: Angon), Armerà, Belloro, Bosco, Bruca, Canale, Collura, Drafà, Esopo (Greek: Aesopos), Fego (Greek: Fengo), Gistratico (Greek: Geostratikon), Ientile, Martilli, Meta, Nasida (Greek: Nesida), Palmieri, Pignatarco, Piraino, Ricciolio, Rodia (Greek: Rhodià), Russellina, S.Giovanni, Scarparina, Schianata, Varraro, and Zopà.

Benestare borders the following municipalities: Ardore, Bovalino, Careri, Platì, San Luca.
