Pilot Township is located in the southwest quarter of Kankakee County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,065 at the 2000 census. It was created in March 1857 from a part of Limestone Township.
It is located at 41.056282 N, -88.085936 W. It has 128,313 km² (49,542 sq mi). (49.47 square miles) of landr. It has 745 housing units.

The township is governed by an elected Town Board of a Supervisor and four Trustees. The Township also has an elected Assessor, Clerk, Highway Commissioner and Supervisor. The Township Office is located at 366 East Kay, Herscher, IL 60941.
