Ganeer Township is occupies a 6 mile by 7 mile rectangle west of the City of Kankakee in Kankakee County, Illinois. The population was 3,222 at the 2000 census.
It is located at 41.151894 N, -87.702760 W. It has 103.40 km² (40 sq mi). (39.92 square miles) of land and 0.703 km². (0.271 square miles) covered by water. It has 1,302 housing units.
Ganeer Township came into being in February 1859. The Township was excised from land in Momence Township.

The township is governed by an elected Town Board of a Supervisor and four Trustees. The Township also has an elected Assessor, Clerk, Highway Commissioner and Supervisor. The Township Office is located at 120 West Washington, Momence, IL 60954.
