Moses Barrett III (born September 10, 1979 in Greenville, North Carolina), known by the stage name Petey Pablo, is an American Southern hip hop artist signed to Death Row Records. Pablo rose to fame in 2001 and not only in his native North Carolina but the whole country. His single, "Raise Up," took the United States by surprise by making it into Billboard's Top 30 pop singles and Top Ten R&B singles.[citation needed]

Pablo decided to move to New York to try and achieve mainstream success, he then met rappers such as Busta Rhymes, Mystikal, and Black Rob.[citation needed]On a remix of "Whoa!" Pablo caught then attention of famous producer Timbaland. While at a club in New York Jive's head of A&R happened to hear Pablo rapping with Black Rob and decided to sign him to a contract.[citation needed]

Pablo is well known[citation needed]for his sexually explicit single Freek-a-Leek, which is produced by Lil Jon.
