Patriot Media & Communications CNJ, LLC is a private company that engages in the buying and operating of cable television systems. The company serves 81,000+ customers in 31 communities of Central New Jersey including Somerset, Morris, Mercer and Hunterdon counties. Long-time cable entrepreneur Steve Simmons, part owner and CEO, purchased the company from RCN in February 19, 2003 for $245 million cash along with private equity firm Spectrum Equity Investors.[1] Spectrum Equity Investors who specializes in media and communications investments was the primary investor in the deal.
Comcast acquired [2] Patriot Media in April 2007 for $483 million. For the time being, the acquired systems continue to operate under the Patriot Media name.
