Out of Jimmy's Head (also abbreviated as OOJH) is Cartoon Network's first live-action/animated television series. It is based on the live-action/animated telefilm Re-Animated that aired on December 8, 2006. The show is a co-production by Brookwell McNamara Entertainment (known for shows such as Even Stevens and That's So Raven) and Cartoon Network Studios.
The series premiered on Cartoon Network on September 14, 2007 to coincide the release of the movie on DVD. The premiere was advertised to air at 7:00 p.m. of that day, but actually aired several times earlier that day. The show was the only show on the network that was affected by the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike.
Although promoted to be the "first live action/animated series on Cartoon Network," the show is not the first. The first was, in fact, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, which ran from 1994 to 2004; this was Cartoon Network's first original series overall, as well. In addition, Cartoon Network aired Big Bag, a collaboration of both live action and animation, co-produced by The Jim Henson Company and Cartoon Network.

[edit] Premise
The series continues where the original movie Re-Animated left off. Pre-teen Jimmy Roberts (Dominic Janes) gets into an accident at Gollyworld, a theme park based on the cartoon character, Golly Gopher. As a result, Jimmy needs a brain transplant. He gets the brain of Milt Appleday, the legendary cartoonist who created Golly Gopher and the other characters of his cartoons. Milt had Schizophrenia, which allowed him, and now Jimmy, to see the cartoon characters in real life. Sonny Appleday (Matt Knudsen), Milt's son, wants the brain for himself. He plans to become a great cartoonist with his father's brain, which he believes will allow him to rule the world. The show is part of cartoon network. It aired on boomerang when the series premiered, this led fans to be very outraged.
[edit] Characters
All the characters in the television series are the same as from the movie. However, Tinashe Kachingwe and Jon Kent Ethridge replaced the actors Eunice Cho, who played Robin, and Micah Karns, who played Craig. Some of the Appleday Toons have gone under a slight re-design, and Golly Gopher, voiced by Paul Reubens in the movie, is now voiced by Carlos Alazraqui. Also, one of the Fried Dynamite assistants make a guest appearance in one of the episodes.
[edit] Episodes
Cartoon Network ordered a first season of the show (with 13 episodes), with the series premiering in September 2007. The channel later ordered a second season which started in March 2008, a week after the first season completed. The show went on a brief hiatus during the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike. Since the first season holds 13 episodes, there will be about 26 episodes of the show in two seasons.
