Oscar Ahumada is an Argentine football midfielder. He was born on August 31, 1982, in the city of Zárate in the Buenos Aires Province of Argentina. He currently plays for River Plate in Argentina.
Ahumada made his debut on November 24, 2002 in a 2-1 victory against Olimpo de Bahía Blanca. He played a small part in helping River to the Clausura 2003 and 2004 championships before moving to Germany in 2004 for a short spell with VfL Wolfsburg before rejoining River later that year.
On May, 2008, Ahumada got involved in a dispute with River Plate supporters [1], since he stated that "we lost because of the lack of support from our fans, they are not like the Boca Juniors fans" referring to the match lost recently against San Lorenzo de Almagro on the Copa Libertadores 2008 round of 16. Outraged River Plate fans demonstrated in front of Ahumada's house ("escrachado" as known in Argentinian jargon) and are currently asking him to be sacked from the team. River Plate coach Diego Simeone warned Ahumada, but still he will include the player on the team.
