North Stoneham

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

North Stoneham is an ecclesiastical parish in south Hampshire, England. It was formerly a rural community comprising a number of scattered hamlets, including Middle Stoneham and Bassett Green.

For some centuries, the Willis Fleming family of North Stoneham Park were lords of the manor of North Stoneham, and the principal landowners in the parish.

In 1917, John Willis Fleming built a war shrine at North Stoneham in memory of the local men killed in World War 1; an identical shrine was built at Havenstreet, Isle of Wight.
