North Carolina's 3rd congressional district is located on the Atlantic coast of North Carolina. It covers the Outer Banks and the counties adjacent to the Pamlico Sound. It also spikes inwards through Duplin, Wayne, Wilson, Nash, Craven, Carteret and Pitt counties.

The district is represented by Walter B. Jones, a Republican. He has been representative since 1995. In the 2006 Elections, he defeated Democrat Craig Weber for reelection. Weber will face Jones again in 2008.
