NetBox Blue was founded in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia by Trent Davis in 1999. NetBox Blue develop enterprise class email, internet and network management solutions, primarily designed for small and medium business. NetBox Blue's main product, the UTM NetBox, provides users with a simple, holistic solution for many common business problems.

Head officed in Milton, Queensland, Australia NetBox Blue also has offices in Sydney, Melbourne and London. NetBox Blue has installations in 15 countries around the world, with over 54,000 clients.

The Unified Threat Management solution runs on a hardened Linux kernel, and can be deployed as an IBM System X rack-mounted server, a VMware instance, or a small form-factor tower.

In a typical deployment, the UTM NetBox has many key features such as:
- anti spam
- anti virus
- stateful firewall
- detailed email & network reporting
- secure VPN
- traffic shaping Quality of service QoS
- URL filtering
- quota enforcement
- bandwidth aggregation

In late 2006, NetBox Blue aigned themselves closely with IBM, and has since then been working with the technical team to optimise the solution. In recent times, NetBox Blue has achieved Premier level business partnership alliance with IBM.

NetBox Blue has recently announced a mobile security devision, titled Leopard Labs. The Leopard Labs solution "Protect" offers a reliable, flexible and cost effective way to filter unwanted and inappropriate internet content on mobile phones. The solution is unique because it sits on the handset, avoiding the need for a server-side solution. "Protect" enables a company to provide NetBox-like policies to mobile fleets as well as network based PCs.
