Not to be mean-spirited, but if you've ever heard Ms. Branch live, you know immediately that she does not have absolute pitch.

this is getting very old, i did NOT COPY THIS INFORMATION FROM THAT SITE!! i got it from another source with permission!!

What's the other site? And please see NPOV -- Branch can not be neutrally described as "A ravishing beauty and gifted songstress". Tuf-Kat

i posted the info on michelle branch several days ago. i do not have the site link in front of my but i can sure find it

What's this "Freedom Weekend" thing? I've heard of/listened to all the others, but a google search for "Michelle Branch" "Freedom Weekend" yields only 7 results... Would appreciate more info on it, since it judging by the google search it seems pretty obscure... i'm guessing its a recording of her performance at Freedom Weekend Aloft (the Memorial Day event?), but who was it released by? (Random bootlegs shouldn't count in discographies...)

[edit] Can it be done?

Does anyone out there think this article needs to be re-done? It seems to be both lacking in neutrality and seemingly poorly written; no offense meant to author, I just think it needs to be written to conform to a higher standard of writing.

Just a thought. --Adun 04:29, Apr 24, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Indonesian descent

So Michelle is partly of Indonesian descent. Does anybody know from which ethnical group? Meursault2004 08:35, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Her grandmother (from the mother's side) was born in East Java. So we can assume she is of Javanese ethnic? --*drew 02:46, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Ha thank you *drew, terima kasih! Yes it is probable that she is of Javanese descent, but it is also possible that she is of Madurese descent or even Chinese descent. But I don't think so. She does indeed look like many people in Holland and Indonesia who are of mixed Indonesian and European ancestry. So let's stick with 'Eastern-Javanese' descent. Meursault2004 08:29, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Who added the line about smutgremlins and the sex tape? You should post evidence with an accusation like that. There is no sign of such a thing anywhere on the internet. - an ANON IP

I've heard of her ethnicity was Asian, but newspapers got her nationality wrong (she's "Japanese" is common). I don't know she's really Indonesian or Chinese-Arab-Hindu-Malayan-Filipino-German, but Indonesia is a very diverse country of many islands, religions and ethnic groups. Most of all, she's an American from Arizona, and her father may as well be black, Mexican, Navajo, etc. for all I care. Branch don't sound too Dutch to me, then i ain't an expert, but loved the music (and her body looks great after a baby). Same goes for Nelly Furtado after her son was born, and they can go together in a duet (I should share that idea with their record producers). And FYI, Furtado is Portuguese, but call her an ethnic? Well... she's a Canadian for one thing, and her ex-BF was mixed white, black, Indian (one with the dot, the other the feathers) and Italian or Spanish (close to Portuguese). It's proof to show Hollywood and the media are quite a racially diverse lot.+

She was on Video Hits recently on with Jessica Harp as The Wreckers. I'm sure she was asked about her descent, but damn if I can remember if she was solid Dutch and what the mix was. RandomEcho 14:39, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

i dont think it much matters what her background is to me she just looks like another white girl--Wikiscribe (talk) 21:41, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Roma/Gypsy Descent

Michelle Branch has also said that she is of Roma Descent.

Roma people? Really?? Another category...hmmm. Talk about branching (LOL). Drdr1989 05:01, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

She doesn't look Rom her bity lil eyes and nothing on her face look Rom. She looks like a generic Eurasian kinda like Mexicans. mb

She is Eurasian and according to her 1/8 Roma

So 62.5% Dutch, 25.0% Indonesian, and 12.5% Gypsy? I mean, we know how important this all is. :P I think Asians claim her anyway.. hah.
Ooops, got my numbers mixed up. Forgot she was 50% Irish. So assuming her dad is 100% Irish, one Grandma is 100% Indonesian, and one great-grandma is 100% Gypsy, final tally is: 50% Irish, 25% Indonesian, 12.5% Dutch, 12.5% Gypsy. Ireland wins!

[edit] Image size

IMO, 250px is just too large for the image on this article. A thumb is big enough. If you look at other biographies you'll see that this is probably the largest one in Wikipedia. Why is it so important that the picture be so large? Dismas|(talk) 22:33, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

size is irrelevant when the image is THAT bad. I can't be sure its her in that pic. Stuph 05:57, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

I agree. Surely there's something better out there.Phil500 08:19, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Quotes

Somebody needs to move these quotes to Wikiquotes. I can't do it, as I keep on forgetting to ask my parents to put Wikiquotes in my bookmarks so I can access it (parental controls). MorwenofLossarnarch 15:57, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

"I'm sick of sucking dicks to get my music heard, putting on a fake smile, and saying things that are acceptable." - Did she actually say this? Seems a bit out of character

I'm pretty sure she said it on the message board for The Wreckers... She Mourns 22:55, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
yep, i think i've seen that posted on the same message board before.[angel]

[edit] Roma

Does anyone actually have a source for the Roma ancestry? I notice the discussion above doesn't produce one Mad Jack 05:43, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Michelle Branch Image

Seriously, there has to be a better picture of her - as stated earlier, I'm not even sure that is her. What about something like http://www.tunepix.com/graphics/michelle_branch55.jpg? Might fall under the header of copyrighted, but hopefully someone can find a good picture of her. A live.com image search should turn up plenty.Antediluvia 01:18, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

haha i totally agree... put a better picture up!

Why did you put such an unflattering picture of her up? I agree, put this one: http://www.tunepix.com/graphics/michelle_branch55.jpg

[edit] Taylor vs Hummingbird

The comment: "Branch enjoys playing the Hummingbird more for live performances and recordings due to the fact that the sound quality is better than the Taylor" is an opinion. However, it's stated as a fact. It should be attributed to someone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.98.122.123 (talk) 01:20, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

I thought she said that she started playing the hummingbird more often because Gibson offered to lend her guitars and stuff. Taylor wouldnt do anything like that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.10.44.92 (talk) 22:02, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New record

She announced the title of her new record last night at a show, so I slapped it up there. Unfortunately, there hasn't been an official media release or message board announcement about it, so hopefully you guys can forgive me for not putting a source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.10.7.182 (talk) 08:14, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
