Talk:Mausoleum of Khomeini

[edit] Size of area?
Are you guys sure you got your numbers right? You say the complex is supposed to be 5000 acres (2000 ha) large. That would correspond to 4km by 5km! In the French Wikipedia it says the whole cemetery is 400ha, so maybe you got a zero too much, no? 85.3.170.158 (talk) 22:36, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Yes 5000 acres does sound too big. I sourced that from here: http://archnet.org/library/sites/one-site.jsp?site_id=43 (that's currently footnote 2). Can you find a better source about the size of the complex? What source does the french page use? Ezra (talk) 02:35, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I see, you copied the number correctly from this site. No, I can't find better information either (I just thought this was very large, especially close to a big city). The French article (on the cemetery Behesht-e Zahar) has this reference (ref 1): http://www.roozonline.com/english/archives/2007/04/003560.php which says that the cemetery now (after expansion) is 424ha. But it seems that the Khomeini Mausoleum is not really part of it, but next to it. Sorry, criticising is easier that doing better, I admit :-) Greetings, 85.3.35.250 (talk) 19:16, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
$2US billion also sounds like an extraordinarily large sum. I would be curious as to the accuracy of those figures, and how that money is allocated. Remember that this money and the 5000ha is attributed not only to the tomb itself, but to a larger complex including a car park and schools. (though 5000ha still sounds too large) Ezra (talk) 12:49, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
