[edit] Adverts
Articles you believe to be pure advertising can be marked with the {{advert}} notice. Just edit the article add add {{advert}}. Any passages in an article you disagree with, and passages that aren't cited as such, you may add the {{fact}} notice, which indicates that references are required to back up claims made. Add this tag after any sentence you feel isnt't backed up with reliable references, or no references at all.
[edit] Deletions
You seem to have done it correctly; you just need to put the name of the deletion page like this, on the bottom of today's deletion page {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chelsea Wiggins}}.--Peta 03:50, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi Mark, make sure you click the "preloaded debate" link when you've placed the template on the page, or else it messes up the AfD list. yandman 15:04, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Protections
Protect is an admin-only function, much like delete and block. Adding a tag does not do anything to the page. – Chacor 12:58, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
- Just to add to this, the addition of {{sprotected}} (or, for that matter {{protected}}) does not actually protect the page. The templates are used by admins, who can impose a protection on the page, to label it as protected. To reiterate, the templates are for informational purposes, and don't actually change anything in terms of page protection on the article (for example, an IP would still be able to edit your user page, despite the tag, as it has not actualy been protected by and admin). Hope this helps to clear it up Martinp23 13:07, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to the Military history WikiProject!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—and wherever—you'd like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines outline some things to include.
- Interested in working on a more complete article? The military history peer review and collaboration departments would welcome your help!
- Working on featured-level articles? We have some advice for nominators, and an A-Class review process to help check high-quality articles.
- Want to help with specific requests for assistance? Our requests page has extensive lists of requested articles, images, maps, and translations.
- Interested in a particular area of military history? We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, or periods.
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 14:00, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Question
Smeelgova have you done the landmark course/s? The reason I ask is I noticed you used a lot of "jargon" phrases. When I researched those phrases, I got Landmark sites (pro/anti). (Reply on my talk page if you want)Mark1800 23:37, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- Have you? Smeelgova 23:39, 18 October 2006 (UTC).
- Not that I'm aware of. The closest places to do one of thier courses is over 2000km from me. I did have a friend ask me to go along to one of thier evenings, but I was flying out that night. Thus my original curosity.
- Care to answer my original question Mark1800 04:10, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Mark1800: First off, let me say I am breathing a huge sigh of relief that we are getting along on slightly better footing. You seem like a pretty good guy and I'm glad we're not in some sort of edit war or another at the moment. Yes, I have done some Landmark courses. Though I'm curious, if you have not done any Landmark courses, why do you have such a vested interest in supporting the positive POV of the organization's history and screening out the negative POV? Have you participated in some sort of similar coursework in the past? Yours, Smeelgova 04:17, 19 October 2006 (UTC).
[edit] Request
- As long as we are acting more civil, I request that you remove my screenname and reference from your "My list of nice places to visit" section. I have no problems with you perusing my contributions or talk page, but it is perceived as a subtle personal attack, and I would much appreciate its removal. Thank you so much. Yours, Smeelgova 23:42, 18 October 2006 (UTC).
-
- I could bookmark it... LOL. I'm not singleing you out btw. I added jossi as I'm curious whats going to happen.
- BTW: THE FOLLOWING IS NOT A PERSONAL ATTACK I was a bit annoyed at you the way you first dealt with my edits, however I'm learning and I'm seeing other people treat you with no respect, which I have a personal point of view is not nice. Mark1800 04:09, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for acknowledging that I get no respect, even when attempting and striving to utilize cited sources. Yours, Smeelgova 04:11, 19 October 2006 (UTC).
- I'm begining to left with the impression I stepped through a door into the middle of a gunfight. In some way's I'm trying not to get shot. Mark1800 04:12, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Trust me, I know the feeling. Smeelgova 04:13, 19 October 2006 (UTC).
- At any rate, it's still a little unconventional to link to another user's page/contributions from your main user page, but I see you modified the header, not the biggest deal in the world. Yours, Smeelgova 22:54, 20 October 2006 (UTC).
[edit] Crazy Therapies (book)
- Thank you for the kind advice. As per commentary from yourself and others on the talk page and on the AFD, I have modified Crazy Therapies (book). Take a look and let me know what you think. Yours, Smeelgova 07:39, 19 October 2006 (UTC).

- Haven't heard from you in a while Mark, and just when we were having a good rapport. Hope you are doing well. Hope you don't mind if I stole your interesting idea: User:Smeelgova/sandbox#My_list_of_nice_places_to_visit. Yours, Smeelgova 22:20, 20 October 2006 (UTC).

- Thanks for the smile. It is truly appreciated. Perhaps I might come back at some point in the future. But for the moment, I am upset and disappointed at the manner in which a small band of those with an extreme POV, editors and/or administrators, can twist and alter the whole of knowledge on Wikipedia to suit their ends. In particular, it is disheartening to witness the cruel and cold manner in which this is accomplished. Thank you again for the kind thoughts. Yours, Smeelgova 22:40, 26 October 2006 (UTC).

Tag & Assess 2007 is now officially over, with slightly under 68,000 articles processed. The top twenty scores are as follows:
Although the drive is officially closed, existing participants can continue tagging until January 31 if they wish, with the extra tags counting towards their tally for barnstar purposes. We'd like to see what lessons can be learned from this drive, so we've set up a feedback workshop. Comments and feedback from participants and non-participants alike are very welcome and appreciated. |
