Dear Administrator. I spent a great deal of time composing an entry on Marius de Zayas, a famous caricature artist and art dealer. In my entry, I made a reference to his book, How, When and Why Modern Art Came to New York, and I mentioned that I was the editor of that book. If I understand your critique correctly, you believe this violates copyright, or that I am promoting my own book. Since the book is out of print, that was clearly not my intention. This is a fine article on the early American artistic avant-garde and well deserves being expanded on. The Metropolitan Museum of Art had a wonderful exhibit on de Zayas and Stieglitz in 2004. http://www.metmuseum.org/special/se_event.asp?OccurrenceId={9A361FD6-3C81-4074-BD33-0294914C27D7}
I have read the excellent book "How, When, and Why Modern Art Came to New York", edited by Francis Naumann. It is the pity that the book is out of print. A previous exhibit on Marius de Zayas was shown at the Center for Inter-American Relations on Park Avenue in March 1982, coming from the Spencer Museum of Art at Lawrence, Kansas, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The catalogue was published by the Spencer Museum of Art in 1981, with a cover caricature of Marius de Zayas by Francis Picabia, Library of Congress No. 81-84298. If I am not mistaken, Marius de Zayas is the father of Rodrigo de Zayas, a musicologist and noted author residing in Sevilla and Madrid. Rodrigo's last book Los Moriscos y el Racismo de Estado (Almuzara 2006)is definitely worth reading.De Zayas 14:16, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
