Mark Bolton (born April 3, 1979) is a retired Australian rules footballer.
He was recruited to Essendon with pick 4 in the 1997 National Draft, via Ringwood, Victoria and Eastern U18. He went on to make his debut in 1998 and went on to played 124 games.
He is considered lucky to have reached 100 games, as many Essendon fans ridiculed him for poor skills and bad decision making.[1] Bolton however did shown signs of improvement in his game, playing well against key players such as dual Brownlow medallist, Adam Goodes and Matthew Pavlich. Bolton's role against the Eagles in round 11 was crucial to Essendon's success against the top team in the competition at the time. Essendon won the game by 1 point. However, by the end of 2007, Bolton had been unable to hold his place in the Essendon side as newer players took favour. He announced his retirement at the 2007 Crighton Medal Count[2]
Mark completed his secondary education at Ringwood Secondary College and continued on to complete a Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) at Swinburne University of Technology.
