[edit] Your comments at WP:V

I see you have opined on the "Verifiability, not Truth" issue. I get what you are saying, but I think you may be dicussing something other that "Truth"... could it be that what you are arguing in favor of is "Factual Accuracy" as opposed to "Truth"? "Truth is subjective... what is true for me might not be true for you... but "Factual Accuracy" is not subjective. A fact is either accurate or not. Just my two cents. Blueboar (talk) 00:47, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

"People come to us for facts, not for some Higher Truth"... most readers come here for facts. Unfortunately, too many editors come here to add their version of the "Truth". Thus the criteria for inclusion is verifiable fact... not "Truth". Blueboar (talk) 02:11, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I don't have very strong objections to removing the "not truth" completely if that is consensus. The main reason why I lean towards keeping "not truth" is that it reinforces NOR, which I like.... but I can agree that there are other ways to enforce that. [edit] Presidential Deists

I don't really care one way or the other about whether various Presidents were or were not Deists... but I do care about reliable sourcing. If you look at the talk page, I have repeatedly asked that this information be cited to a reliable source. For more than a year, I have posted repeated requests to the talk page... added citation request tags at the article... etc. etc. etc. I was patient and gave people a reasonable amount of time to provide sources. None were ever given. I now am taking a harder line on this. The claim that Washington, etc. were Deists MUST be cited or I will summarily revert. In the case of Jefferson... the claim is cited... so I leave it in. Blueboar (talk) 15:38, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bluff Point Light

Thanks for the heads up, I'll change the DYK nom I made accordingly. I had trouble with this one. It seems to go by at least three names TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 00:55, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

ETA, never mind you beat me to it. Thanks for taking care of all of it TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 00:57, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
When I was deciding between Valcour Light and Bluff Point I went with the one that it's operator identified it by, which also matched Adirondack Park's naming. Do you think it's worth making Valcour Light a redirect or it's not needed? TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 14:16, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
And since you seem to be working, 'in the neighborhood', (I just saw your DYK nom from yesterday) I wanted to let you know Champlain Valley Transportation Museum is done :) TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 16:33, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Inline cites

Hi, I replied on WT:DYK about your question. The rest of this doesn't really apply to the dyk part, so it's here. What happens, when in one year, someone shows up and 'expands' an article you've written, adding several incorrect facts in the process? A reader won't know which parts of the article are verifiable without inline cites, rendering all of it besides the references section pointless (which makes it about as useful as a google search). If that reader is looking for something specific, he might be able to confirm it with a citation. Otherwise, he might end up looking through all the stuff in the references section, trying in vain to verify something that isn't true in the first place. - Bobet 12:09, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Solution reached at Leonard Neale

You might want to check out the most recent round of discussions and edits at the Neale article (relating to the Washington was a deathbed Catholic myth). I am satisfied with the compromise but, as you were concerned about the issue, I thought you should see what occured. Blueboar (talk) 13:40, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimedia Commons

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! There is, however, another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please consider creating an account and uploading your media there instead. That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view images you have previously uploaded by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!--OsamaK 07:05, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Point Reyes Light

Just invoke WP:IAR and move the newspaper to "The Point Reyes Light". That seems to have consensus of all the other editors involved. Blueboar (talk) 16:36, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
