Lyndhurst is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 15,279 at the 2000 census. Lyndhurst is located in northeastern Ohio, and is a suburb of Cleveland. A small part of Lyndhurst was originally part of Mayfield Township. Joe Cicero, Jr., is the current mayor of Lyndhurst.

Lyndhurst is located at 41°31′17″N, 81°29′25″W (41.521352, -81.490141)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.4 square miles (11.4 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 15,279 people, 6,642 households, and 4,397 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,480.1 people per square mile (1,343.8/km²). There were 6,855 housing units at an average density of 1,561.4/sq mi (602.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.72% White, 1.28% African American, 0.01% Native American, 1.19% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 0.59% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.68% of the population.

There were 6,642 households out of which 24.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.6% were married couples living together, 7.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.8% were non-families. 31.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.27 and the average family size was 2.85.

In the city the population was spread out with 19.9% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 26.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45 years. For every 100 females there were 85.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.9 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $52,272, and the median income for a family was $64,961. Males had a median income of $45,172 versus $31,652 for females. The per capita income for the city was $28,206. About 1.3% of families and 2.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 1.4% of those under age 18 and 3.3% of those age 65 or over.
