[edit] Speedy deletion of Application/pdf:BWY press release Oct 2007.pdf

A tag has been placed on Application/pdf:BWY press release Oct 2007.pdf, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Roleplayer (talk) 22:16, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

If you think a disambiguation page should be changed to an article on a different subject, please discuss on the talk page first. Cheers, -- Infrogmation (talk) 22:32, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Pretty Baby

Please stop removing the content of this page and replacing it with an article. If the subject is notable, write a new article; removing content like that constitutes vandalism. J Milburn (talk) 22:44, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

If the band is definitely notable, it should be created at Pretty Baby (band), not Pretty Baby, which is reserved for the disambiguation page. J Milburn (talk) 23:00, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Pretty Baby (band)

A tag has been placed on Pretty Baby (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

[edit] Pretty Baby (again)

Ok, you have been warned about this. Please stop; continue to add this spam and you will find yourself blocked for disruption. J Milburn (talk) 20:03, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Note also that, unless you can write a neutral article that shows the notability of the band through citations to reliable sources, the article will continue to be deleted. J Milburn (talk) 20:08, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you create an inappropriate page, such as Pretty baby (band), you will be blocked from editing. --Finngall talk 20:27, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
And now undoing my edits without even a comment? I'm not just some vandal. I was removing spammy material from the article. I am not quite sure what part of our neutral point of view policy you can't grasp, but you are really, really pushing your luck. J Milburn (talk) 20:42, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] April 2008

You have been indefinitely blocked from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy because this is an advertising only account. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. Toddst1 (talk) 21:01, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "Why do you keep deleting this page?? Every band on Wikipedia seems to be "promotional" but you dont delete them. Check out Vampire Weekend and Panic at the Disco. What are they doing differently? I was simply stating how the band got together for fans who find their bio on Wikipedia!"

Decline reason: "Please see WP:BAND. — Yamla (talk) 21:20, 16 April 2008 (UTC)"

Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.

Request reason: "After having read your article guidelines and blocking policies, I now understand why my username was blocked. I didn't mean to abuse the wikipedia policies, but I have to create a page for a band so that journalists can retrieve factual information on them. I have references to prove that they are a legitimate group and I promise to abide by your guidelines from this point forward. I hope this is sufficient to have my account unblocked 1. http://www.fwweekly.com/content.asp?article=6408 (Lreuveni (talk) 23:38, 16 April 2008 (UTC))"

Decline reason: "You don't *have* to create a promotional article, however. Journalists have other sources to go to if they really feel like researching your band. However, if you follow the instructions at {{2nd chance}}, we may consider unblocking your account. — Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:45, 16 April 2008 (UTC)"

PROPOSED EDIT -

The Black and White Years are an indie electro-rock band based in Austin, TX. Original members Scott Butler, Landon Thompson, and John Aldridge formed the band in 2006 while attending Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Billy Potts joined the band in January of 2008 after their debut album had already been recorded.

The band is often compared to 80s post-punk groupTalking Heads. After seeing the young band perform live, former Talking Head member Jerry Harrison agreed to help them record their debut album [1].

At the time of the recording sessions, the band did not have a drummer, preferring instead to play live with the aid of programmed loops and sequenced drum tracks. For the recording, Harrison recruited Steve Ferrone, of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, to play the live drum tracks.[2]

In January 2008 the band was one of only three U.S. bands invited to perform at the annual international music conference MIDEM in Cannes France [3].

Request reason: "I attempted to edit a pre-existing article and pasted it above on my talk page. I tried to abide by the wikipedia notability guidelines and I refrained from promoting the band in any way. This is how I intend to create my first article. I hope my posting was done correctly and that you consider unblocking my username (Lreuveni (talk) 00:32, 17 April 2008 (UTC))"

Decline reason: "You are still intending to use this account for promotion. This is inappropriate. You clearly have a vested interest in this group and so will not be permitted to create an article on them. Please see WP:BFAQ and WP:COI. — Yamla (talk) 14:22, 17 April 2008 (UTC)"

Request reason: "I only listed factual information regarding the band, i.e. history, events. Every mainstream band has a wikipedia page, so I didn't consider my attempt promotional. What else can I do to make it appear no-promotional and get my account unblocked? I tried to follow the format that other band pages used. I'm not trying to sneak anything in (Lreuveni (talk) 17:44, 17 April 2008 (UTC))"

Decline reason: "We've already given you links to provide that information to you. I'm not really sure how to explain it to you any other way. What makes matters worse is that you continued to recreate the article even after repeated deletions, and are still professing your intent to continue doing so. Again, no. — Hersfold (t/a/c) 19:16, 17 April 2008 (UTC)"

{{unblock|I apologize for those recreations. I didn't understand why the page was being deleted, so I would try to recreate it with less advertising and promotional value, but it wasn't right according to your guidelines. This is the first time I've ever tried to create an article on Wikipedia and I didnt mean to offend. Each time I recreated the page it was with the intent of making it appropriate for Wikipedia, and I just wasnt sure what i was doing wrong (until now), so I kept accidentally making the mistake. If I edit a different 'practice' posting, will you reconsider unblocking my username? (Lreuveni (talk) 20:01, 17 April 2008 (UTC))}}

Every time you try to create an article that has been previously deleted, the software prints out the deletion log for you. This log provides clear reasons as to why the page was being deleted, with links to the appropriate policies for further information. You still haven't stated that you won't try to create that article again - if you do so, we may consider unblocking you. Hersfold (t/a/c) 20:04, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

{{unblock|I promise not to create that article again. I understand that I avaded guidelines (very much accidentally), and I do not wish to create promotional pages on Wikipediea. I honestly didn't realize that is what I was doing. It will not happen again. (Lreuveni (talk) 20:11, 17 April 2008 (UTC))}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Please take care when creating articles, and understand that when administrators or other highly experienced users have told you to stop doing something, you might want to stop. Based on your statement that you wish to contribute constructively, and that you will stop creating pages that do not meet Wikipedia policy, I have conditionally unblocked this account. If you restart the same problematic edits, understand we can always reblock you. However, let us put this all behind us. I look forward to your positive contributions to Wikipedia in the near future, and I hope you can use this as a learning experience.
