Sorry about the edit I meant to put in August 1981 not 1982.--BigDunc 19:04, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Detail important

If it was not important why have a reference at all. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Phoblacht (talkcontribs) 13:09, 16 April 2007 (UTC).

We should keep footnotes to an absolute minimum. It is highly significant that Carron didn't become an MP in 1982, but merely began using a different description of his affiliation. Biographical details which have little or no impact on his affiliation while an MP are not very relevant and best left out. Warofdreams talk 16:46, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Carron never made a secret of his support for Sinn Féin, and by 1982 he was regarded as a Sinn Féin MP.[1]--Domer48 17:26, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I'm quite happy with clarifying that he always openly supported SF. I actually wrote much of the article you cite! Warofdreams talk 18:02, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Name of this article

Shouldnt the article clarify that this is to British parliments and new articles for Shinners to the Free State parliments.--Vintagekits 21:22, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm thinking we could change it to include all elected representatives, to get rid of the listy overkill from here? One Night In Hackney303 23:35, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
That'd be my preferred option, although the resulting list might be overlong. Warofdreams talk 01:12, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
How do other political parties handle this? I know you're quite active on them, and it'll save me looking through several articles before finding out. One Night In Hackney303 01:18, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
At present, all the lists only cover MPs elected to the British Parliament. Warofdreams talk 01:44, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
No seperate articles for MEPs or anything then? One Night In Hackney303 01:46, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
None that I know of. Warofdreams talk 01:50, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Bearing in mind the use of {{UnitedKingdomMPs}}, is it really a good idea? One Night In Hackney303 01:54, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
The template shouldn't be an issue; we can always add additional templates if they become desirable. I'm more interested in the best way to organise the information. Warofdreams talk 02:26, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Well I'm thinking that this article should contain the same information as the others in the template, there's no reason to make this one different to solve a list problem in the main SF article which can be solved another way hopefully. One Night In Hackney303 02:28, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
