Liga Sudamericana

The Liga Sudamericana (Portuguese: Liga Sul-Americana, English: South American League) is an international men's basketball cup competition played annually by the top clubs of South America, organized by the South American Basketball Confederation.

In 2006, 15 clubs, from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, competed for the cup. In the first round, the clubs were divided in three groups of four teams each and one group of three teams, playing against each other once. The two best placed teams of each group advanced to the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals were disputed in a best-of-three series, with the first team to win two games advancing into the semifinals, while the other team is eliminated from the playoffs. The semifinals and the final followed the same format.
