[edit] History

The station, which signed on in 1970, was well known to listeners as KMJM (Magic 108) during its Disco and Urban Contemporary years during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.

But, that all changed in October of 1997 when Clear Channel bought the station and moved KMJM to 104.9 to make room for KSLZ and its current format, which they filled after WKBQ dropped the format for Adult Top 40 in February of that year.

KSLZ also syndicates the highly-rated MJ Morning Show (originally known as MJ and BJ in the Morning, originating from WFLZ in Tampa), and has done so since February 1998.

KSLZ also recently made the conversion to HD Radio with their HD-2 channel carrying the NEW! CHR format, featuring artists / songs that are just breaking onto the charts.
