[edit] History

Since the station began broadcasting, it has had a country format. The station began broadcasting in 1980 as KPAR. The station had many financial problems and was downgraded to the status of daytimer in 1986, allowing operation only during the daytime hours. The station changed its call letters to KPIR in 2002. Since then, the station has once again been allowed to broadcast at night.
