In practice this is an arrangement of material, not really viewed separately. I find it really ironic that given all the debating on fiction, there isnt yet complete acceptance of the middle way of handling things. DGG (talk) 01:46, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Kiroileva siili ("The Swearing Hedgehog") is a Finnish comic strip by Milla Paloniemi (b. Jalasjärvi, 1983). irascible and foul-mouthed cartoon hedgehog

bounce off his personality.
The only censored one is vittu (lit. "cunt"), a close equivalent to the English "fuck" in prominence, the feelings expressed and even the way it's referred to as "the v-word."
Shouting, the comic's primary mode of communication, is represented by large and rough, obviously hand-drawn uppercase letters with double exclamation marks. Ordinary speech uses handwritten lowercase text, and narration a lowercase typewriter font with uneven lettering. When present, it either explains the situation or presents a nature fact that the protagonist goes on to demonstrate or subvert. ("hedgehogs are nocturnal animals." "YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE A BLOODY THING IN HERE!!")

[edit] History
In January 2007, it appeared as the Domestic Comic of the Month in Ilta-Sanomat, one of Finland's two prominent tabloids and second largest newspaper, with a reach of 910 000 in a country of some 5.2 million inhabitants.
[edit] Reception
Literary journal Kirjain describes it as the most unlikely success story of the decade.
the 2007 Strippi-Lempi prize for best Finnish newspaper comic at the annual Arctic Comics Festival.[1]
The computer gaming magazine Pelit has referenced Kiroileva siili twice in its own comic, once by replacing the strip with a photo comic Kiroileva Viili (a Scandinavian strain of soured yoghurt), and once by using the hedgehog as the bald protagonist's hairpiece.[2] Kiroileva Siili has responded in kind: once by featuring the swearing yoghurt can,[3] and once with an outburst at Wallu, the magazine's cartoonist.[4]
The Finnish mutual savings bank union offers VISA cards illustrated with the (non-speaking) hedgehog [1] alongside the works of four other artists.
[edit] Cast
- The swearing hedgehog – Self-describes as "JUST A NORMAL GODDAMN HEDGEHOG!!"
- The girl hedgehog –
- The city hedgehog – Adapted to urban life, as evidenced by the way he wears shades, eats pizza and knows how to ride on a skateboard.
- The African Pygmy Hedgehog and Antti, the Egyptian Long-eared Hedgehog – Domesticated hedgehogs
- Granny – this hedgehog matriarch is a foul-tempered, mean-spirited hag who communicates exclusively at the top of her lungs and is the only person. Her spines having thinned with age, she carries a knife to defend herself. Both physically larger than her grandson, the swearing hedgehog, and capable of shouting him down. He holds her in some reverence and comes to her for advice and with his insecurities, as one would to a grandmother, in both cases to quick regret. This means that the swearing hedgehog is at his most polite and respectful when faced with the one person even worse than him.

"The next step was a self-published hedgehog album of extremely amateurish quality that I'd cobbled together in an eyeblink (...) which I made by photocopying and cutting the pages myself. Again, their popularity exceeded all expectations (...)" ("Seuraava askel oli todella nopeasti kasaan kyhätty ja erittäin amatöörimäistä jälkeä edustava omakustanne-siilialbumi (...) jonka toteutin valokopioimalla ja leikkaamalla sivut itse. A light, absurdist tone; Neko and Kawaii are used as names, more than one feat is acknowledged to be physically impossible - just not beyond the skills of a ninja. Delivery locations range from the ridiculous (traffic jam, express elevator, Mardi Gras) to the ludicrous (Air Force One, International Space Station, Cyberspace).

A popular card game based on the Ninja Burger license was also published by Steve Jackson Games in November, 2003 (ISBN 1-55634-610-7). A supplement to the card game entitled Sumo-Size Me was published in Spring, 2005 (ISBN 1-55634-741-3). It shares only the core concept with the Ninja Burger RPG, using a completely different set of rules and game mechanics designed and developed by Steve Jackson.

[edit] Things to quote
How much there is to say about a subject isn't proportional with its importance.
"A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day." -- Calvin and Hobbes.
"I was very pleased to be appointed an administrator as I believed that I would be more effective in that role than as an editor only. Primarily, I am here to make this place more editor friendly. I will do what is asked of me, provided it is within my competence and the rules, policies and guidelines of Wikipedia, and will strive to act in a transparent and accountable manner. With the above in mind, I will respond to your emails and respect your privacy - but see my caveat below as I do not care to conduct my Wikilife outside of the scrutiny of my peers. I will not participate in IRC discussions, nor in the exchange of emails outside of that is necessary for me to function as an sysop. If I do partake in private conversations, as part of my admin role, and determine that there is a conflict of interest between the request for privacy and accountability I shall always opt for disclosure. I realise this may exclude me from certain aspects of the administrative remit but, to be frank, I consider this a benefit. Otherwise, feel free to let me help you." -- User:LessHeard vanU
"I'm not going to mince words here: what you did is an effective deletion of the article. I know it. You know it. DOGS know it. The vandalism warning above reflects that quite clearly. You blanked the page without retaining any of the content in the article to which you redirected. As to consensus, your edits have been reverted by four editors other than myself, three of whom also identified your edits as vandalism. I just happen to be the only one who had the thought of pointing that out on your talk page. Now as to the article's merits, honestly I don't care. Really. The only thing I care about is that you're trying to brute force your "verdict" on the article's merits through. That's not cool. That's not Wikipedia either. Seriously, use AfD, or PROD it, or suggest a merge. The fact is that drastic changes like the one you've made (deletion, merge, WHATEVER you want to call it) should be discussed first per policy, not done first and discussed afterwards."
"blergh, if they're going to define 'notable' as 'ordinary enough for everyone to already know about' they're kind of defeating their own purposes in being an encyclopedia. Also, bastards." - [3]
"The problem with Wikipedia editing is the same problem that politics (and particularly petty politics) tends to have in general: the people with the most "authority" are the people willing to spend the time developing that authority instead of doing something useful with their time."
"My response was not dignified and regrettable."
"I feel sorry for those in the trenches. Unfortunately, many feel the way I do and are deeply saddened that the old spirit of forgiveness, Wikilove and community is being eroded by those who only want to do meta-editing, vandal hunting and casting judgement on others. There is certainly more of that now on Wikipedia than there is of actual quality editing of Wikipedia articles." --Ta bu shi etc

[edit] Why other people shouldn't be allowed to edit Wikipedia
Well, it's funny to me.
- In English, the can be used as an intensifier for the superlative form of adjectives; compare "that is best" and "that is the best." Teh has a similar use as an intensifier for unmodified adjectives, generally marking a sarcastic tone. For example, "that is teh lame" translates as "that is the lamest." This contrasts with the use of the in English to construct mass nouns from adjectives, as in "blessed are the meek," where the meek denotes a class of people who are meek, or perhaps teh humble. - Teh
- Hammerspace should not be confused with Hammertime. - Hammerspace
- It is intentionally portrayed as being rather Rube-Goldberg-ish, often steam-driven and with clunky, early-industrial driving belts and extraneous bells, whistles, and gongs. ... These Waaaghs are a cross between holy crusade and pub crawl, with a bit of genocide thrown in for good measure. ... while they are under anesthesia (known as "concussion" to other races) ... Gork (or possibly Mork) being their god of violence; and Mork (or possibly Gork) their god of cunning and speed (The subtle distinction being that one hits you when you're not looking at him, the other hits you when you are) ... particularly when an Ork player is doing well, but also as a sort of general rallying cry for the entire hobby. (The Imperial battle cry "Kill the mutants. Burn the heretics. Purge the unclean" does not seem to have the same appeal.) -- Ork (Warhammer 40,000)
