IP autoblock reversion

Thanks for undoing the autoblock on 194.176.105.40. It's extremely frustrating that one bad user can have such an impact. I don't know if sysadmins are aware but this IP (along with four or five others) act as proxy addresses for the entire NHS in the UK - tens of thousands of users. Hi, the IP addresses of logged-in users are not shown to admins. Autoblocks are 24 hour blocks of the blocked user's IP address and are automatically set by the MediaWiki software in an attempt to prevent further disruption. Thus blocking a vandalism-only account sometimes causes collateral damage. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Autoblock. Sorry for the inconvenience. Oh yeah I completely understand but if the vandal was already identified as a registered user then I'm wondering why the sysop simply didn't autoblock the account? AulaTPN 07:31, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
If we only blocked specific accounts, the blocked user could keep disrupting Wikipedia by simply logging out or switching to another account and it could be very difficult to keep track of the disruption. Mostly blocks of IP addresses do not cause collateral damage (some shared IP addresses are exempted from autoblocks) but regrettably "mostly" does not mean "always". --KFP (talk | contribs) 20:06, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi. Main page images, as well as everything else that appears on the main page are protected because of their high visibility. If they were not protected, they would very likely be vandalised, that is, someone would upload a different file (a shock image, for example) over the correct image. This would result in said shock image appearing on the main page instead of the intended picture. I hope this explains the protection. --KFP (talk | contribs) 13:38, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

American Buffalo Gold Coin

Aside from the page violating condition #4, the first paragraph does not specificlly mention that the American Buffalo Gold Coin is a "covered coin". Would this effectively null the FP stsus of the image or does this need further debate?--293.xx.xxx.xx 11:34, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Near identical replica of a PD work (PD old from 1916) is still PD. No indication of a copyright renewal or any other indication of a copyright." Hi. To put an image on your user page, you have to upload the image via Special:Upload and release it under a free license. If you own the rights to the image, you can select a free license of your choosing from the "Licensing" drop-down list. Wikipedia uses the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), and there are some other compatible licenses. The box is in the "watchlist" section of Special:Preferences. If it is not checked, only the most recent revisions of the pages you are watching will be shown on your watchlist, i.e. one revision per page. Try it and you'll see the difference. Cheers, --KFP (talk | contribs) 11:04, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Hmm. It seems that there is a technical problem that affects some Commons hosted images (see WP:AN#STOP_DELETING_CSD.23I2_IMAGES) for more. The empty En-Wikipedia image page for this file was deleted per CSD I2 after the featured picture nomination was closed so it fell victim to this software bug then. The file in question should be hosted on Commons at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Koli.jpg but it doesn't work at the moment. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. Help me - navigation template format

I have reformatted Template:WPBangladesh Navigation. But, I can't solve a simple glitch - a white bar is showing on the right side of the column, which shouldn't be there.
