Jondal is a municipality in the county of Hordaland, Norway.

Jondal was separated from Strandebarm in 1846.

The Norse form of the name was Jónardalr. The first element is an old rivername *Jón (now Jondalselvi), the last element is dalr m 'valley, dale'. The meaning of the rivername is unknown.

The coat-of-arms is from 1987. It shows three hooks for log driving. See also the coat-of-arms for Åsnes, Fet, Marker and Nordre Land.

The singer and actress Herborg Kråkevik is from Jondal.

Bjørg Hope Galtung was the mayor of Jondal from 1979 to 1993, only leaving to sit in the national Parliament.
