John Tambouras (born January 30, 1979 in Melbourne, Australia) is an Australian football (soccer) defender who currently plays for Drogheda United in the FAI Premier Division.

He was scouted in his junior years to South Melbourne F.C. and emerged as a fine young talent. With not many opportunities arising for Tambo he went abroad and played in his parents country of Greece for Kalamata. He played his most memorable game there against Olympiacos in the Intertoto Cup which the two teams drew 1-1. He arrived back in Australia playing for Auckland Kingz for the 2003-2004 season. Next season saw him in the new Hyundai A-League with the New Zealand Knights who were impressed by his hard work ethic and excellent defence with the Kingz. The following season he joined Malaysian side Pahang where he won the FA Cup which went down to penalties. After his stint in Malaysia he went back to New Zealand to help the Knights in their last few games of the season in which he scored a superb header against Queensland Roar. New Zealand recorded a rare win running out winners 3-1, with the other two goals being scored by Neil Emblen and Alen Marcina. He was on trial at Romanian club FC Universitatea Craiova in January 2007 but joined Drogheda United in July.
