[edit] "He Never Saw It Coming"
I wonder if that's an appropriate comment. I visited his club on Blue Jay Way in October of 2007 on a benefit night for him and the host, Danny Marks, referred to the fact that the childhood cancer that took his sight was active again. Marks relayed a message from Healey that he was hoping for a happy outcome.
I may be overly sensitive, but "he never saw it coming" seems like a poor joke. Jeff Healey was a powerful figure in Canadian music, if not always in the limelight, and to lose him a 41 is pretty sad.
If I'm the only one who's put off, don't change it.

- That was just vandalism, which has since been reverted. Adam Bishop (talk) 08:14, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Collaborations
Full Circle - Walter Trout's first studio album of new material since 2001's Go the Distance. Not only has the hotshot guitarist worked and maintained friendships with these players, but they convened in the same studio at the same time to nail these tunes. Not surprisingly, the vast majority of Trout's friends are guitarists who - like him - prefer to charge through songs with the intensity of a salmon swimming upstream. Joe Bonamassa, Bernard Allison, Guitar Shorty, Jeff Healey, Junior Watson, and Coco Montoya all share guitar-duel duties. Track: Working Overtime - Trout, Walter & Jeff Healey

I think the article would benefit from a photograph illustrating how he holds his guitar when playing. — Apr. 17, '06 [08:52] <freakofnurxture|talk>
- Done, I uploaded an image I took of him playing last night & created the infobox.

[edit] No idea how a guitar is held?
I find it a bit hard to believe that two people living in Canada should have "no idea" how a guitar is held. Would be good to check up on this. Icemuon 10:38, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
This appears to be his style... check out the videos of him on YT, they all seem to have him holding it like that: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=jeff+healy&search= Arcterex 08:10, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think that is the problem - Icemuon means it is strange that his parents did not know how to hold a guitar the "proper" way. He could still have learned to play the way he does, if he had attempted to learn it the proper way first. Adam Bishop 08:28, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- he had like a 8 fret strech that way —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.125.110.223 (talk) 15:25, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Assessment
I have assessed this as Start Class, as it contains more detail and organization than would be expected of a Stub, and of mid importance, as apparentely he is rather well known outside of Canada. Cheers, CP 04:45, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- I've corrected the assesments to "stub", as the article is almost completely unreferenced. In fact, since it is about a living person, is there a reason all the unreferenced material shouldn't be deleted? -- Mikeblas (talk) 23:31, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject class rating
This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 14:13, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Early radio appearances
Jeff appeared from the age of 14 on the CBC radio program "Fresh Air" with hosts Bill McNeil http://www.worldofradio.com/dxld3018.txt and Cy Strange http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cy_Strange. http://www.cityofkingston.ca/cityhall/press/release.asp?mode=show&id=2126 He demonstrated an encyclopedic knowledge of jazz from a certain era. In particular, he seemed to be a big fan of Bix Beiderbecke http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bix_Beiderbecke. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.12.194.128 (talk) 00:39, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Acting Career?
I am curious as to why there is little to no mention of Jeff's performance in the movie 'Road House', which was the first time I had heard his music. If I recall, there were several scenes where he had lines.
