[edit] Confusion

I'm not sure some of the examples add much to the article and confuse a little. "the town crier is heard, for example, calling "Oyez, oyez!", to which a passer-by responds "What a fancy fez!"" - not sure I get this?

Also there's another problem between the English translations and the original French given that the Caliph is in fact called Harroun El-Poussah (French version) not Haroun al Plassid (English version).

The 1987 A&O book Asterix and the Magic Carpet, features an Iznogoud-like character that wants "to be Raj instead of the Raja". --Auric The Rad July 2, 2005 19:51 (UTC)

[edit] Wilhelm Hauff

I think the series bears some resemblance to Wilhelm Hauff's old fairytale "Caliph Stork". Has anyone else noticed it, Goscinny mentioned it in interviews or something? 惑乱 分からん * \)/ (\ (< \) (2 /) /)/ * (talk) 14:55, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
