"It Ends Tonight" is the third single taken from The All-American Rejects' second studio album Move Along. Contrary to their usual style, the song is a ballad. During a July 2006 airing of the PBS series Soundstage, the group revealed that the song was not written about a girl, but rather "a dude". The single peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, making "It Ends Tonight" the band's third top 20 hit. Due to the popularity of the song in the United States, sales for Move Along started to increase. It skyrocketed the album from #88 to #47 in the week of November 8th, 2006. To date, "It Ends Tonight" is the band's most successful single in the U.S.
The video premiered in the United States on August 28, 2006 on TRL.

[edit] Music video
In the music video, Tyson Ritter is standing in front of a fireworks store. The band pulls up in a conversion van. Tyson goes inside and fills a shopping cart with fireworks as two female clerks watch him. One of the clerks is obviously watching him more closely, interested in Tyson. Tyson walks out as the band plays in the back of a truck stop. Chris lights a firework and Tyson joins in. In the end the night turns into day (relating to the line "When darkness turns to light - It ends tonight, it ends tonight") and the song ends.
