"iDream of Dance" is the third episode of the television show iCarly. It first aired on Nickelodeon on September 16, 2007.

[edit] Plot

After being forced to watch a tap-dancing Scotsman in Ms. Briggs class, Carly, Sam and Freddy decide to host a dance contest of their own, by having the viewers send in clips of themselves dancing and putting the ones they think are the best on the next show. Almost immediately after announcing the contest, around 3,000 dance clips get sent to the iCarly website, and Freddie says that approximately 500 dance clips will have to be watched every night until the next show.

Later that night, Carly, Sam and Freddie are watching the dance videos, and are up to around 470 when they get extremely (and understandably) bored. Spencer, wondering why everyone seems so miserable, finds out about the contest and decides to enter himself. When asked to demonstrate the dance (called the "Firecracker"), Spencer replies that he will need to go upstairs and look for his helmet and [[shinguards. This leads to some interesting rediscoveries on Spencer's part (specifically, an incredibly old and moldy sandwich.)

Meanwhile, Carly and Sam find themselves attracted to the guy in one of the submissions, whom is an amazing dancer and gymnast. Freddie, of course, is immediately envious of him. Soon after playing the clip, the three fall asleep from having stayed up so late.

The next morning, Carly, Sam and Freddie return to school as tired wrecks, and Sam points out that she can't remember waking up that morning. The bell rings, and almost immediately, all of the students around them begin dancing and blocking the path of Carly and her friends. The dance sequence ends, and Sam (presumably the one who was dreaming) wakes up and announces to her already-sleeping friends that it might be a good idea if they get some rest.

Sam falls back asleep, and has a bizarre nightmare in which she is in detention and Ms. Briggs is playing a bagpipe hooked up to an amplifier. Ms. Briggs suddenly appears to be wearing a kilt, and Sam and the other detention members also go through split-second costume changes into kilts as well. Sam soon finds herself Scottish dancing against her will, preforming feats such as splits that she admits to be incapable of doing in real life. The dream sequence ends with Gibby, the weird kid in her class, running into the room in his boxers.

We see Freddie's dream next, in which the attractive dancer from the video clip is a jerk named Zeke who goes to Freddie's school. He starts hitting on Carly, much to her annoyance, and Freddie comes to stand up to the bully. Freddie challenges Zeke to a dance-off, which Freddie wins. Soon after, Freddie becomes the leader of Zeke's gang, who start to mimic Freddie's dance moves and (accidentally) hit Zeke repeatedly during the dance. Freddie then runs off with Carly happily in tow, and the sequence ends.

Carly has an incredibly bizarre dream, waking up on the floor of the room in a dress with the couch, her friends, and the television missing without explanation. Attractive boys start walking into Carly's apartment wearing suits, the final of which happens to be the dancer from the video clip (who had previously been the antagonist in Freddie's dream), making Carly incredibly confused. Carly then proceeds to start dancing with the boys (albeit still not understanding what is going on), until Spencer wakes them up suddenly having found his dance equipment.

However, the gang has seen all of the dancing they'd care to see for the night, and Freddie returns to his apartment while Sam decides to spend the night. Spencer then falls asleep on the couch, and has a dream which mimics Carly's down to the very last detail. Spencer, oddly enough, enjoys the dream (despite dancing with boys while in a dress), and the episode ends.
