IAV GmbH, or Ingenieurgesellschaft Auto und Verkehr, is one of the leading engineering providers to the automotive industry.
The company's core competencies include perfected, production-ready solutions in all fields of powertrain, electronics and vehicle development. Founded in Berlin in 1983 by Prof. Dr. Hermann Appel as a university-affiliated research institute, the company presently employs over 3,000 members of staff, and works for all the world's prominent automobile manufacturers, and component suppliers. In addition to development centers in Berlin, Chemnitz and Gifhorn, IAV operates at a further 15 sites in Europe (France, United Kingdom), Asia (China, India, Japan, Korea) and the Americas (Brazil, USA).
Clients include major vehicle manufacturers, including all marques of the Volkswagen Group, BMW, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Fiat, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Porsche and Toyota. Component manufacturer clients include ArvinMeritor, BEHR, Robert Bosch GmbH, Delphi, General Electric, Siemens VDO, Continental AG and ZF Group.
