Hossam Hassan Hussein (Arabic:حسام حسن) (born August 10, 1966) is considered one of the best Egyptian and African soccer players of all time. He has played more international matches and scored more goals than anyone in Egypt's National Soccer Team history. As of 2006, he had amassed 170 caps for his country and scored 80 goals, and is currently aiming at achieving a new record of goal counts which is a record currently held by Hassan Al Shazly of Tersana since the 1960s. He has now completed signing a new contract with a new club, Al Ittihad from Alexandria which is reported to be the third most popular team in Egypt after Ahly and Zamalek as most Alexandria's population (the largest after the Greater Cairo District) are "Greens". The move was on a free transfer as Hossam didn't renew his contract with tersana but not before scoring 6 goals taking the number 16 spot in the list of the Vodafone 2006/2007 Egyptian Premiership goal scorers and helping the team escaping relegation.
