[edit] import of Phoenix's sacrifice

The import of Phoenix's sacrifice was highlighted in an issue of What If. In an alternate timeline, Jean Grey prevents Cyclops from being injured and is rendered unconscious. Thus, her transformation and suicide are avoided, and the Shi'ar perform a psychic lobotomy on her to remove her powers and prevent the Phoenix force from returning. However, in a later battle with Galactus, Grey sees Cyclops about to be killed, and her powers return. Although she and the X-Men initially are ecstatic, especially since she feels no touch of her dark side, Grey ultimately begins to feel the hunger caused by her power once again and covertly looks for sustenance. After consuming a small star, the X-Men confront her, provoking her anger and the return of Dark Phoenix, who easily kills them all, Cyclops last. As she sees her beloved murdered by her own hand, Grey loses complete control of her power, and the unsatiable Phoenix Force, in the form of a gigantic firebird, destroys the earth and continues into the entire universe. I dont think this is relevant (i.e. if Jean didnt die something horrific would have happened). In Rachel Summer's timeline when Dark Phoenix confronts her parents, instead of disowning her like they do in the 616 timeline they are able to reach out to her her and Jean is able to control herself. So it could have been possible for Dark Phoenix to be stopped without killing herself. And I recall another what-if story with Jean not dying that doesn't result in total destruction. [edit] do we need this?

it's well written, but the only page that links to it is the X-Men page - and why couldn't all this information go there? Elijya 03:54, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

The X-Men article is long enough already. -Sean Curtin 06:27, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
A decision needs to be made wether this will remain a seperate article, and if so, which will discuss the canonical/biographical hisory of the x-men or its publishing history. bueller? Es-won 06:34, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Morrison Era"

Why, when Claremont was on the title for twice as long as Morrison, at a time when there was only one real X title, is one section called the Morrison Era? It seems kind of biased to me Darquis 09:13, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Updating

I think someone should update this with information on Endangered Species, Messiah Complex, the announcment of a new creative team on Astonishing X-Men, and about Post MC with new the books and possible cancellation of New X-Men.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:New x-men 114.jpg

Image:New x-men 114.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:DeciMation.png

The image Image:DeciMation.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --22:10, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Messiah Complex

Why isn't there a section about it, I mean there are at least three series that spun out of that
