Thanks. I think I've gained experience since the last one, which seemed to be the main issue raised, so I would like to take another shot. Seraphimblade Talk to me Please review me! 15:06, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pligg page deletion ruling

Can you answer to my points against the deletion of Pligg: View AfD?

I really don't understand this decision. There was no "talk" on the talk page for voting deletion. Just a bunch of people with the idea that this was to close to the Digg service... ridiculous.

Have a look to the thread on the subject on Pligg's forum. This makes a bad publicity to Wikipedia's service: http://www.pligg.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4497

Note that I'm not affiliated to the Pligg team. I've just discovered this piece of software partially with the help of Wikipedia, thus I find it normal to keep it here.

Please respond to your ruling on your own talk page.

Benoit rigaut 14:30, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Whether or not a page is deleted is decided in the AfD, not on an article's talk page, and in accordance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The applicable one in this case appears to be WP:WEB. Neither the nominator nor any of the others commenting on the AfD found any evidence that it meets this standard... Usually something like this has to be verifiable through reliable secondary sources independent of the website itself (which is all outlined in WP:ATT.) So, it wasn't deleted because it's close to something else or whatever... It was deleted because the consensus was that it didn't meet WP:WEB. If you can find reliable secondary sources to show that it meets this standard, than I can help you recreate the article in accordance with these guidelines. Grandmasterka 21:28, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Please cut the WP:bullshit and look for yourself on the web. A googling of "pligg" returns 2.090.000 results! How about that for notability? Youtube has 3 videos for howto installation. I added reliable external sources in the Pligg article before its deletion. Take this page for a howto installation: [1]. Have you even looked at this links before ruling? Have you tried to understand what this piece of software does? Benoit rigaut 14:25, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
No. I don't care what it does, or how many google results it gets. I care that a great majority of the people who researched the article didn't find any evidence that it is worthy of inclusion, in accordance with our policies and guidelines. Now I've offered to help you recreate the article, if you can prove it is covered in reliable sources. If you want to insult me instead, that's your choice, I guess. Grandmasterka 23:27, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Sorry there was no insult intented (WP:NPA and no more kibitzing). An editor has asked for a deletion review of Pligg. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Benoit rigaut 03:45, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia cited in news article for poverty pimps

Here in the Palo Alto Daily News[2] the term is defined and Wikipedia mentioned as the source. I know there is a section where entries are placed when Wikipedia is mentioned in the news as a source etc.PEACETalkAbout 15:30, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bassnectar

I went looking for Bassnectar on wikipedia, only to find that his entry had been deleted AND prevented from being recreated. Just wondering what in the heck is going on with that...really surprised to find that his story is not here. Thanks for your time and hard work! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.137.151.0 (talk • contribs).

The version of the article that kept getting added abusively was a direct copy from the person's website. It was spammish, a possible copyright violation, and had no assertion of meeting WP:MUSIC, our criteria for the inclusion of musicians on Wikipedia. If this artist meets this standard, I'd be happy to unlock the article for you after you provide some reliable sources on the article talkpage to show it meets WP:MUSIC. But you'll need to register an account to create the article... Grandmasterka 03:03, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Asturian language (stub)

Hi, I've seen you've removed the stub status fron the Asturian language article. Your reasoning is that the article is not exactly a stub. I agree the article is long in a way, it already has quite information, but that information is not enough and the article could be easily improved by an editor who is not an expert at all in the subject. Thus, I categorized the article as a stub following this criteria:

"Another way to define a stub is an article so incomplete that an editor who knows little or nothing about the topic could improve its content after a superficial Web search or a few minutes in a reference library. An article that can be improved by only a rather knowledgeable editor, or after significant research, may not be a stub." - Wikipedia:Stub

Of course, my point of view is debatable, but it's quite clear that the article lacks a lot of information that could be easily improved by an non-scholar editor who'd just dedicate a few minutes to do it. There's a lot of information about Asturian language history, grammar, etc... just one click away ([3][4] [5] [6] ...).

But anyway I understand your point. I understand that categorizing the article as an stub could be seen as a "strict" way of acting, from a certain point of view. But it surely will be seen by Asturian language editors as a "warning note" that will induce them to work fast on the article, by including some information very easy to find, so that "stub" status is removed soon. And that's the purpose of stubs in Wikipedia. See you -- · Ravenloft · · (talk) · 21:55, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] EthanStrimling.jpg deletion

Hey there, I didn't see your reasons for deleting the image I uploaded before I uploaded another copy, so I'm sorry about that. That said, what copyright would I have to use to maintain the image on the site? And why are those two options on the copyright drop-down list if they are no longer allowed? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ruthlessliberal (talkcontribs).

[edit] Age category

Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:

  • Using an age group category, such as Category:Wikipedians in their 30s
  • Using a decade category, such as Category:Wikipedians born in the 1970s.

If you wish, you may do both. Hopefully, this change in categorization will be quick and painless. Happy editing! --An automated message from MessedRobot 13:21, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject updates

  • I have done some updating to the WP:SCN, added some new articles, added a "to do" list to the top of the project, and fixed up some categories and assessment stuff. I suggest we should all pick one article at a time, or at most two, to work on bringing up to Featured Article status. You could give input on the project's talk page... Smee 21:34, 9 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Trapped in the Closet

As a member of WikiProject Scientology, may I kindly ask you take a look at Trapped in the Closet (South Park) for grammar mistakes and such? I worked hard on getting the article thus far, and in order to get it to FA status (or at least A), the main thing it currently needs is copyediting. It would be very appreciated. Thanks. [edit] Chacor nom comment

I decided to abstain from the Chacor RfA, but I have to wonder about your timing. Not only is it just four months since he came clean, it came at a time when the community must have had its fill of anything relating to Daniel Brandt. But perhaps the community would have felt the need to show its disapproval by rejecting an RfA or two no matter when it came, so letting them work off their juices now brings you closer to the day when they might be willing to seriously consider him. (Just a comment, no response required.) --Groggy Dice T | C 18:26, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Interesting point. The time it takes for Chacor to be ready for another go-around is probably about the same as the time the community needs to get over the Daniel Brandt thing... Grandmasterka 19:33, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: And use it wisely

I Appologise for that, I quickly deleted it, I was testing the button to get the text from that button for the Button Functions List I created on the NPW page. I tried doing it in a sandbox but it wouldn't work for me so I just did it on a page and (quickly) delete it afterwards. If you find this a valid reason I would appreciate it if you removed that comment from my talk page but I won't do it myself. Thank you, And I appologise again. SyBerWoLff 01:21, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mahogany Glider image

Could you please replace the image you deleted from the Mahogany Glider infobox, with that of the Wikimedia Commons photo of the Mahogany Glider which is displayed on the French Wikipedia Mahogany Glider (photo page) at [7]. Thank you. I have attemped to replace the image with the Wikimedia Commons image on more than one occasion, but have unfortunately had problems in doing so. Figaro 14:25, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for fixing things up and for your explanation. It is very much appreciated. It is good to have the Wikimedia Commons image of the Mahogany Glider in the article infobox. All the best. Figaro 11:59, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reply

You can go and delete that page. I apologize for creating such an article. As the founder, (but not the leader), I admit that the article was poor in quality and petite in quantity. But, I was going to improve it overtime. I just put it up there just in case if anyone wanted to sign up early. If the article should be deleted because of its poor quality, is it ok for me to improve it and post it back on the winter of 2007? Orthodoxy 05:49, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Loic Lacasse

The article on Loic Lacasse was deleted today as a result of the deabte, however before you deleted it someone made some serious alterations to the debate page for it's deletion, and removed two arguments against it's deletion, one of which was mine, shouldn't this be considered before deleting it? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pierrotto (talkcontribs).

[edit] Eternia Online

Hey! My friend's friend created that article about a game they were developing. Why did you have to go and delete it? Was it going to hurt you? Hello. I've seen that you were the blocking admin for the blocking of User: 88.87.34.106, and I have been looking at the history of his page, and I want to make sure you saw all his edits, not just the warnings on his userpage. 88.87.34.106 has been deleting vandalism warnings on his user talk page, and I just want to make sure that you saw that, and saw all his vandalism, not just the warnings that this user did not delete. Thanks much. Chickyfuzz14(user talk) 22:23, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tamil Language: Please Consider the following references

Tamil has been declared a Classical language by the Indian government. This has been done after an extensive research and a political process. See:

This article assumes some basic Tamil background knowledge from the reader. Continuous literary tradition is well established. Please do some background reading about Tamil literature and, one can understand that statement. The above web site would be of value in that regards.

Counting only the first lanaguage speakers: Tamil is #15, according to the following paper: http://www.frenchteachers.org/bulletin/articles/promote/top%20languages.pdf

If second language speakers are counted it drops to #18, according to Ethnologue. http://www.davidpbrown.co.uk/help/top-100-languages-by-population.html

13-17, probably due to uncertainty or same number of people speaking some other lanuages.

I am an editor at Tamil Wikipedia. This article is well researched, and written by informed contributors. Let me know if I can of more help.

[edit] Tamil language article has been vandalized

I just re read the article. I just re read the article. It has been vandalized, very manipulatively. Formally, it was written with better articulation. Within sentences, statements have been inserted to degrade the article. (I do not want to get into who that may be, or why...its a long story.) Sundar, and Ganash may be able to recover, and lock it for a while.

However, you statments about references may still be valid. --Natkeeran 06:55, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

(I'll respond to your comment here unless you wish otherwise) I've tried to explain NPOV (and 3RR) to the user; I welcome you to jump in if you feel I haven't adequately explained WP policy. Beyond this, there's also an issue of Blogshares administrators and developers editing their own article (as far as I understand policy, that's frowned upon). Thanks.

I also took the liberty of fixing the edit counter on your userpage. I hope it helps. Skult of Caro (talk) 04:36, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] About RFA offer

Hey! Thanks for your RFA offer, or if that's not what you meant, for the pretty question mark and red link you left on my user talk page. I currently don't wish to be an admin, because while it would be great to help people with tools and such (mainly thinking about WP:TFD, WP:MFD, WP:PER, WP:RFPP, and WP:AIV), I have some stuff on my to-do list (not the one in my userspace), some of which relate to abstract items rather than individual tasks. I would inevitably start clearing admin backlogs if promoted, and put off said tasks. And plus, there's the inevitable apprehensively-checking-my-RFA-every-15-minutes :). So now might not be the best time, but thank you very much for your thoughtfulness. GracenotesT § 02:36, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA

  • Thanks for the support position. However, I've decided to withdraw my acceptance because of real WP:CIVIL concerns. I will try again later when I've proven to myself and others that my anger will no longer interfere with my abilities as a Wikipedia editor. Thanks again, and I'll see you around here shortly. :) JuJube 04:26, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
