[edit] Year of birth
I can not claim to be very well versed in this man's life so I don't want to go changing important details directly, but it does seem odd to me that we went from a very specific location in th UK for his birthplace to "New your City". Which is it? --Jake 04:03, July 30, 2005 (UTC)
1947 seems rather early for him to have only been 19 when he started writing Spider-Man in the early 1970s - is one of these an urban myth? Timrollpickering 12:09, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
I've corrected the date of his birth. Several sources (most authoritatively MSU's comics catalog) state it was 1952, and of the three dates cited in online sources (September 7/10/11), the 10th was the most common. Tverbeek 14:15, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

- Confusion derives from their being two Gerry Conways, one of which is a UK musicians.
[edit] Footnote query
RE: This footnote:
Conway's autobiographical capsule on the Internet Movie Database [1] says he was 15; his blog says 16 [2]. Conway's earliest recorded credit bears a September 1969 cover date, meaning newsstand availability in summer 1969 and a typical deadline of two to three months earlier. This gives the age of 16 more credence; however, it is not unusual for a novice's story to be held indefinitely before being published (c.f. comics writer Mike Friedrich).
I have a query that initially explains the discrepancy. Conway, in a private e-mail, explained that his first published story was actually his second sold, and that the first story, the name of which he did not remember, appeared in an issue of DC's Tales of the Unexpected approx. 10 years later. Since this falls under "original research" under Wiki guidelines, can anyone cite an independent corroborating source?

Image:Midnightdancers.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
