[edit] History

George H. Moody Middle School was initially opened in 1951, as Hermitage High School. The school was built to replace the old Glen Allen High School. A former principal of Glen Allen, George H. Moody, was appointed the first principal of Hermitage High School. He served in this capacity until 1956, when he was promoted to the position of superintendent of Henrico County Public Schools.

In 1972, the school became known as Hermitage Middle School, following the opening of the new Hermitage High School.

George H. Moody's integrity and dedication to improving the quality and standards of education within the county have been well documented. He left an indelible mark on the Henrico County Public School district during his thirteen years as it's superintendent. As a result, Hermitage Middle School was officially named after him on November 5, 1978. Since that time, the school has been known as George H. Moody Middle School.

They only lost to Oak Knoll by 20 points, and to Brookland by 8 points.
