Three universities are situated here. These are Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology and an international university Islamic University of Technology.

- Kalinarayana Temple, circa 1900. Built by Maharaya Kalinarayana of Bhawal. Located in Joydebpur.
- Vawal Rajbari, one-time home of Prince Ramendra Narayan of the Bhawal case. Located in Joydebpur.
