Fermignano is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Pesaro e Urbino in the Italian region Marche, located about 70 km west of Ancona and about 35 km southwest of Pesaro. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 8,065 and an area of 43.3 km².[1]

Fermignano borders the following municipalities: Acqualagna, Cagli, Fossombrone, Urbania, Urbino.

Renaissance architect Donato Bramante was born here.

Fermignano's history can be traced to 200 B.C., with the name probably deriving from someone named Firmidio. The city grew up around a bridge over the Metauro river. [2]
