[edit] Original research ?

The article has quie a long list of historical instances of ethnic cleansing. However, It would seem to me that the vast majority of these historical instances of 'ethnic cleansing' are not commonly referred to as such. In fact, none of the sources I checked specifically mention "ethnic cleansing". Instead, it would seem to me that what we have are events which we today would have labelled "ethnic cleansing" but, since they happened long ago, are today not referred to as such. E.g. "The Germanic Vandals were enslaved and deported from North Africa after the Vandal kingdom in North Africa was defeated by a Byzantine army during a Vandalic War in 533 and 534". This is WP:OR. We should be more strict in applying the term to instances where the sources actually directly label an event as ethnic cleansing, instead of making our own analysis and conclusion. Needless to say, I believe the majority of the historical examples would be deleted were this criteria applied.Osli73 (talk) 14:55, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ethnic Cleansing of Taiwan

Taiwan was Ethnic Cleansed in the late 40's. What exactly happened with that population after WWII? How many were deported ? Is there still any Japanese (apart from tourist and recent expatriates) in the island today?. Rocha 201.6.91.122 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 22:23, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] American Ethnic Cleansing of Inner Cities?

"

Blockbusting and redlining in American cities in the mid-to-late 20th century led to white flight: whites moving from inner city America to the suburbs, being replaced by African Americans."

I don't see how this fits into the category of ethnic cleaning. Jsderwin (talk) 00:39, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Unexplained removal and talk page archiving

Can anyone explain this edit [1]? Deucaon removed a lot of reliably sourced content, apparently for no reason. From his other edits, he appears to be pushing an extreme Serbian nationalist POV.

Also, this talk page is quite long, would anyone object to automatic archiving of dead discussions after, say, 6 months? 129.215.37.174 (talk) 11:37, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ethnic Cleansing in the Torah

I'm kinda confused why the article doesn't mention this in the section about early instances of ethnic cleansing, especially when it's including instances where 20% or more of the population was sold into slavery. I would think the instances in the Torah would be far more noteworthy, as the only ones left alive were the virgin women. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.222.54.100 (talk) 01:32, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
