[edit] The Truth About Elvis Film

  • This information was posted, because it is probably the most significant development in the Elvis sightings mythology in a long time. 02:18, 4 September 2006

[edit] Urban Legends

  • People in Sedgley, UK, have speculated for years that a local man is Elvis Presley living in hiding. Their theory is based on the fact that the man moved to Sedgley at around the same time that Elvis Presley died and owned a fishing lodge in Scotland despite being unemployed (the money Elvis earned from his pop career would be enough to buy numerous fishing lodges). The man lives alone in a dilapidated house.
Removed the above as I cannot find any mention on Snopes (Urban Legend reference site) about this "Urban Legend" nor can I find any credible news worthy articles from Sedgley in which this is mentioned. Please feel free to research this further and add it back in when it better referenced, as currently, it doesnt tell us very much other than a claim that in "some town", "some guy" is thought to be Elvis. [edit] Elvis Portrait in Iraq

Is there a source for this? I find it rather interesting, but I have no way to know if it's true. Theshibboleth 10:08, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

Seconding this. It looks so odd here, maybe a picture to go with this? 209.117.233.18 23:10, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
Moved this to trivia as it seemed the most sensible place until a source can be found. I would also like to see some further information on this. Legoman 11:31, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
I removed it reason being because it still hasn't been sourced and more importantly, it seems irrelevant. The fact that a large potrait of Elvis was seen in Iraq has little to do with Elvis sightings unless there is some evidence to suggest this potrait was drawn from the real living Elvis after his death which seems very unlikely. Perhaps if the person who owned the potrait believed Elvis was alive and his decision to acquire or display the potrait was related to his believe we could also consider including the info. Otherwise, it just indicates that someone was a fan of Elvis and had a large potrait of him which might be relevant trivia for the Elvis article but not the Elvis sighthings article... I have included the removed line below
  • In a bizarre footnote to the phenomenon, a large portrait of Elvis was seen in Iraq in June 2004, along with portraits of prominent Islamic figures.

[edit] Elvis Sighting Society

"There is an official Elvis Sighting Society which make its World Heaquarters at the Newport Restaurant in the Westboro section of Ottawa, Ontario. Restaurant Owner Moe Atallah is one of the founders of the group." Does that sound like an advert to anyone else? 129.173.173.24 03:59, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

Shifted it to trivia section, although promotional still seems relevant to article, seems a shame to remove until article gets more work? Legoman 11:31, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia

I think the Trivia section could do with a cleanup. The anagram is pointless, and does not belong here, and the man who has renamed himself is nothing special. Many people legally rename themselves as that, and dress the part. Just because this guy has gone one step further and claims to be the reincarnation, does not mean he deserves to be mentioned, especially as he does not seem particularly relevent to the article on the subject of Elvis sightings. The mention of him reads like a small 'Featured Citizen' feature in a town paper, or something similar. I do not think that either of them should stay. The one about the society is fine, definately deserves a mention. J Milburn 22:36, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Just in case anyone doubts the reality of Elvis Alive Drive, I can report that I was there last night, invited to dinner at one of the two homes on that street. But mapquest does not recognize the name. Vegasprof 18:13, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Delete, delete, delete... Maniacs! By the way: Elvis is alive and lives in MEMPHIS. 128.178.178.145 14:35, 15 March 2005 (UTC)

Huh? Commented out the delete-because flag.

This is a shallow page, not developed up to its full potential, but I can't see any reason other than snobbery for deleting it. It is not a "test page" of any kind, it is a NPOV report on a peculiar phenomenon, has a certain amount of content, links to several other articles, and is on a subject quite likely to be looked up. Re-inserted the delete flag - it applies only to the talk page. You actually recreated the page in order to tell us this. BesigedB 19:00, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
well, as the talk page now contains comment on the article, it might as well stay undeleted -- sannse (talk) 19:14, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Ah,well. Ortolan88 05:31, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Elvis' Invention

When Elvis Presley was in gradeschool in Tupelo, Mississippi he would walk a couple buildings down the road just to listen to African Americans play Rhythm and Blues. Elvis was also into country then, too. He thought to himself one day, what if I could mix my favorite types of musicto make a totally different kind of it? So he tried it, at Sun Records in Memphis TN. By mixing rhythm and Blues with Country, Elvis Presley invented something called Rock'n'Roll! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.253.46.87 (talk) 00:45, 3 February 2007 (UTC).
