[edit] Hey
Could you unblock the ....[expletive].... ranges on wikia? Donal JW 11:16, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, as far as I know, there are no Wikia-wide range blocks at the moment. Although there are some on specific wikis where we've had problems. Please could you email community@wikia.com - giving specific information about where you are blocked from, what IP you are using, your user name (if you have one), and the specific message that you get when you try to edit. Thanks -- sannse (talk) 11:39, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
- I'll add to this. I see that you vadalised Wikipedia with another account shortly after leaving this message, and I know that the IP that you used with both accounts matches that used on Wikia for repeated vandalism. With that in mind, I think it unlikely that we will remove any range blocks affecting you on Wikia in the near future. -- sannse (talk) 11:54, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Spaces.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Spaces.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:09, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi, im sorry to just pop up like this, i was trying to change a picture in the affenpinscher article , i feel the picture i have portrays a better view of the face, however i inserted the image and i found that the code didnt work, the images is successfully on wikipedia. After the code did not work i could not undo the changes and now the picture is missing from this article. Please could you help me with this?
- I've fixed the image. I disagree that yours is a better image for the article. It may show the face full-on, but it doesn't show the whole dog. It's also very dark. But there is room in the article for more than one image, I would suggest leaving the full dog image in the infobox and adding your image outside the box. And you can always expand the article to give a better balance of course ;)
- By the way, it's usual here to add new messages to the bottom of the page, and you can sign by typing four tildes after your message (~~~~). -- sannse (talk) 07:09, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi , sorry to bother you .... again, you are the only administrator i know i have spoken to , i have uploaded an image , given its copyright status but i dont know how to add a source, i forgot to do it when i uploaded the image and now i can't figure out how to do it , i know when the source is given it will tell me wether the website is suitable but i would be grateful for your help. - All you need to do is add the link to the site where you got the image from to the image page. Just click edit at the top of the image information page here and type the url of the site there. That will show the source nicely. -- sannse (talk) 18:30, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello Sannse! We need some admin help again on the Preterist page which is getting repeatedly vandalized by someone with a wierd "grudge" link they keep posting. All of the contibutors to this article, partial preterist and full preterist (who in most other things are at war with each other!), are in agreement this is vandalism, and the anon editor is not participating in the talk page. Can you assist or let an Admin know that can assist?

[edit] RE: Johnny Lee Clary - Please help
Hey there, my name is Nick, my username is Potters house and I have encountered a problem with trying to provide any information about Johnny Lee Clary. I have posted this post off to other staff members also. I am not sure if this is the best route to resolve this, but can think of no other way.
The article Johnny Lee Clary has been deleted. I have known Johnny through telephone conversations and email for a short time now (about 3-4 months). He recently came and shared his life story in for our church group for the first time just two weeks ago. Before I met Johnny I became interested in his story i.e. his conversion from the head of the KKK in the US, to being a Christian Minister who now teaches against race hate groups. I found the article Johnny Lee Clary as it still is today, deleted, except for some small talk. If you read the talk you see what I have said at the time (notice I have gotten no reply, probable my fault as I don’t know heaps about WIKI policy). From my understanding Johnny Lee Clary was posting as The KingOfDixie and looks like he tried to change a few things on Wiki concerning the KKK. While this is a controversial subject, Johnny being the former leader of the KKK would probably know a thing or two and be able to contibute, but that’s another story. He eventually made an article about himself i.e. Johnny Lee Clary. Johnny being quite new to Wiki and ignorant of rules of conduct found himself at odds with some admins and had his site deleted.
Whilst observing Johnny over the last 3-4 months I have noticed that he is very outspoken against race hate groups such as the Neo Nazis, Skinheads, KKK etc. This, more often than not, lands Johnny in the hot seat. He has experienced persecution from racist groups for his departure from the KKK and voiced opinions against these racist organizations on his webpage, www.xkkk.org. Johnny has also received multiple death threats.
Because of his bold stance against these racist groups Johnny has become accustomed to hatred directed at him by those same groups. Johnny concluded that perhaps the guy who deleted the page Johnny Lee Clary was a white supremist. I am hoping to clear this up. Before he told me this, I started to create J L Clary, after hearing nothing from posting in user talk on Johnny Lee Clary's article. I wasn't 10 minutes into the J L Clary article when it was issued a deletion notice, and then before I had time to reply (about 5 minutes) it was deleted! I was amazed. I told this to Johnny and he said the main reason he was told that he couldn't have an article was because he was not prominent enough.
Johnny has a very famous testimony and has been on multiple TV shows like Oprah, Donahue, Jerry Springer, etc, and even recently when he preached in our town he made front page news, a double spread on his life, and the local ABC interviewed him live, which is not bad for our town (LISMORE NSW Australia) See http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=John_Kerry&dir=prev&offset=20050327125109&limit=500&action=history .
When David Wilkerson came to our town hardly anyone knew or cared, yet David Wilkerson is allowed an article (and rightfully so), but more people know of Johnny. As to whether he is famous or not, just Google search him and see all the TV interviews and radio interviews he does. He hangs with some of the most prominent Christian leaders in Australia. Besides this, just being the former KKK leader should be enough for an article (he doesn't even get a mention in the KKK one, and would be deleted). He was also a Pro Wrestler. So he is prominent in Christian circles, he is prominent amongst race hate groups, and he is also prominent in the WWE wrestling.
Johnny asked me to test the waters for him to see if he was being persecuted by someone from a race hate group. So I created some sites, John Clary Wade Watts and Operation Colorblind - the name of Johnny's Ministry. These have been fine until yesterday. I cannot understand why these sites are just issued a deletion notice? Just because they mention JLC? I was hoping to discuss these things but they are just deleted. The one on Wade Watts is about a black gospel preacher who was one of the leaders in the civil rights movement in the US and was good friends with Martin Luther King. He took Johnny Clary under his wing and even ordained Johnny as a minister (to this day Johnny is the only white man ordained in the All Black Baptist Church). But his article is up for deletion because I mentioned Clary and had a link.
That is why I am writing to you to see if you can help. It seems to me that the person(s) deleting all articles which even mention Johnny Lee Clary has an agenda. I thought that wikipedia admins had to keep a neutral stance on every article. It seems like this guy has a vendetta against JLC. Why delete the Wade Watts article. That is guilt by association and could be proof that all deletions are because of racial discrimination! I hope this is not the case and would think that it is politically motivated, as Johnny is a strong supporter of George Bush and Antaeus Feldspar of Kerry.
See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=John_Kerry&dir=prev&offset=20050327125109&limit=500&action=history This shows how Antaeus Feldspar supports Kerry, which is fine, but Johnny is a strong supporter of Bush.
My hope is that Johnny will be able to have an article like any other famous person, minister, former KKK leader, or pro wrestler, and that Johnny and anyone connected with him and his ministry will in future have certain rules set in place that do not allow the wholesale deletion of the articles associated with him, but that they will be at least discussed.
I thank you for reading this long winded post. I have only been using WIKI for about a year myself so I need your help, I don't really know what else to do. I hope you can help. I personally think that Johnny's story is one that is beneficial to the cause of reconciliation between races and to the3 unity of society as a whole. It would be a shame if WIKI became known for having covert racists. Of course I hope that this is a misunderstanding and that all will be cleared up soon.
Here are some links that might help.

[edit] Michael Graham
Hello, Sannse....If you could, would you please revisit the Michael Graham page to resolve an impasse....I have made minor changes to the reference to the "Islam" controversy section, and I am having challenges trying to get user badlydrawnjeff to work towards a compromise. Please review the comments in the discussion section under "August 2006 editing", with specific reference to the Washington Post article and the reasons for Graham's dismissal from WMAL. Jeff believes that it is an accurate representation to say that Graham was fired due to hosting the discussion of Islam and terrorism. I believe that it would be more accurate to say that Graham's comments caused the controversy, not the discusion topic. I refer you to Michael Graham's own words in an August 9, 2006, article on the firing, (http://www.charlestoncitypaper.com/gyrobase/Content?oid=oid%3A16052) In the article, Graham stated, "One year ago this week, I was fired from my talk radio job by ABC/Disney for saying on the air — and in the pages of this newspaper — that "Islam is a terrorist organization." ....That's what I said. ABC ordered me to apologize for it. They insisted I perform community service as a form of penance for it. I told them I would never apologize for telling the truth, and they fired me."
I offered a compromise wording to jeff, but he refuses to budge or contribute to the compromise. I would appreciate it if you could help settle this dispute. 68.50.149.214 00:25, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Classic Marvel Figurine Collection
Hi Sannse, just a quick question really, about a year ago i created this article, a few months ago someone added the newer issues of the magazine which is fair enoug. Shortly after i noticed that more issues were being added that i had not seen confirmed on the official magazine site, another edit has also been made more recently on the page about estimated future special issues which are also not confirmed on the site. I have contacted the company in the past asking about future issues and they have always infromed me they do not get a set list until the figurines have been made, therefore i should only trust information on the official site. Is it ok for me to remove all the unverified information or do i have to tag the article first? History of my conversations with the editors is on the talk page for the article. There is also a link to the official site. Thanks. (Neostinker 16:40, 11 October 2006 (UTC))

[edit] Quick check-in and hello
Hello, Sannse dear! I was crestfallen to see that both you and Elf are not active on the dog breed list project these days. Not that I can talk! I just did a quick check-in last night to review the Siberian Husky, Alaskan Husky, and Seppala Siberian Sleddog articles. Got hooked and wound up doing a general edit of the AH article and making some changes on the other two, including a decent intro for the SH article which has somehow acquired a very poor one. Unfortunately I'm out again as suddenly as I reappeared; I won't be around here again for some months probably. We are moving Seppala Kennels out of the Yukon, going to central Manitoba where our feeding supplies will be cheaper and more plentiful and our contact with SSSD Project supporters much better and more centralised. We got tired of paying the "northern premium" of exorbitant transport rates, ruinous vet fees, and of living in such a primitive situation. We're acquiring a 240-acre farm in the lovely "Parkland" region of Manitoba and joining forces with two Chinook breeders whom we've known and admired for several years. A huge new adventure -- but moving a BIG kennel over 3000 miles is a daunting prospect. It'll take place this summer sometime. Hopefully I might get back to Wikipedia in the autumn. But I couldn't go without saying a warm hello to you.
Woops! Almost forgot to tell you about MY new wiki! Hosted at "Peanut Butter Wiki": SeppalaWiki. It is why Wikipedia has seen so little of me for the last year. It's slow work (because it's taking awhile for Project supporters to see the long-term value of it) and it's discouraging to create so many stubs knowing that probably nobody else will expand them, at least for awhile. Still and all, great oaks from little acorns grow and I suspect that a couple years or more down the line others will discover the usefulness of an online wiki knowledge base for a struggling small-population breed like ours
I hope you aren't having too much trouble with depression these days -- I had to battle it a bit off and on this winter. (You might have a look at the Byron Katie website www.thework.com; she has an excellent self-enquiry methodology that can be very helpful; someone pointed it out to me and I found it useful.) All of my best wishes to you! Ditkoofseppala 19:41, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image nominated for delisting
Hi Sannse. I'm sorry to inform you that I've nominated the above image for delisting from Featured Picture status, as I don't believe it meets the current criteria. You're welcome to comment at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/delist/Ring-tailed Lemurs. Please don't take this personally, it's just that the criteria have been considerably revised since 2005 to reflect the much greater number of high-quality images that are now available. Even if the image is delisted, it will still serve a useful purpose in the articles it illustrates. Best wishes, --YFB ¿ 15:20, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] eternalwars wikia
No problem, I didn't take it as a personal offense or a reflection on the community. I just had better things to do than hang out in a channel where the only people paying attention were rude. I realize that it isn't truly that big a deal and don't really expect anything to happen regarding this particular wikia, but I wanted to alert folks in the community to it since the concept behind it (WP:BEANS) could potentially become more of an issue later on. Just a heads up about a potential issue we can relatively easily monitor should the need arise. Thanks for the warm response. :-) —WAvegetarian (talk) 11:53, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

There is a user (well, he/she goes by his/her IP address), 74.79.212.181, that has edited the Martin Luther King, Jr. page multiple times (it was corrected once or twice), to say that he had a speech called "I Have a Scheme", as opposed to "I Have a Dream". I believe that this act of utter disrespect should result in the IP address losing its editing priviledges. If you think I am wrong, just tell me on my talk page. If not, you don't need to send me any messages- I'll know you agreed. Thanks for any help you can give me- Kanogul (talk) 01:29, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Montypythonsings.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Montypythonsings.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Save_Us_229 16:23, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] "Vandalism"
It was an experiment to see how long an innocuous inaccuracy would last on a random Wikipedia page. Hardly any sort of aggressive or insidious vandalism. If anybody had actually visited the page they would have seen it as an obvious joke and reverted it (which did indeed happen, albeit only after I posted the link, and it took downwards of 10 seconds). I do apologize for it, but I think threating a ban was a bit much. You have to judge a case by its merits. --Savethemooses (talk) 10:21, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Old_Man_of_the_Mountain_overlay_2.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Old_Man_of_the_Mountain_overlay_2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:05, 5 January 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Dream out loud (talk) 03:05, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, sorry I'm no longer active on Wikipedia. If I recall, this image was related to a copyright issue I dealt with when I was responsible for email to the Wikimedia Foundation. I don't have access to OTRS any more (or if I do, I don't have the inclination to wade thorough it any more), so if you want to follow up on this you will need to talk to someone who does. They will be able to confirm my recollection that PD permission was given by the image author. From what I remember, that was on the page at the time, but it looks like that template has been changed. Regards -- sannse (talk) 17:53, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Order of Whiteoak
Hi there, I've restored the {{references}} tag here because I don't believe the external links cited are sufficiently reliable sources. It's not that the article is entirely unsupported, nor do I have any doubt that the group exists. It's just that for me the sources aren't really independent enough to clearly establish notability. As it stands, this could easily be a group of a couple of dozen people who have among them someone who can write press releases and has contacts with one or two other Druidic organisations who will republish them. If they are more than this, I'm sure some more reliable sources will turn up. Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 11:50, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Talk:Doberman Pinscher
Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Talk:Doberman Pinscher, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in ...
I saw your name at Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Photographers. I revised the pages at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in England. Please consider adding your name to the top of the page at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in London? and to any of the other subpages for Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in England. Thanks. GregManninLB (talk) 01:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] New School (Dawson)
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article New School (Dawson), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Jerzy•t 07:50, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
