Edgar R. Wingard is a former college football head coach. He coached six different teams from 1904 to 1925, including the University of Pittsburgh and Louisiana State University. His career record is 70-33-6. He also served as the head coach of the LSU Tigers baseball team from 1908-1909 and as first basketball coach in the history of LSU Tigers basketball in 1909.
In 1908 he led LSU to a 10-0-0 record. The Tigers were awarded the national championship by the National Championship Foundation, although the school does not officially claim that season as a national championship season.
