The 2005/06 season of the Divizia A began in August 2005 and ended in June 2006. Steaua Bucureşti became champions on 7 June 2006.

These teams were promoted from Divizia B at the beginning of the season:

• FC Vaslui (champions of B/1)
• Pandurii Târgu-Jiu (champions of B/2)
• Jiul Petroşani (champions of B/3)

These teams were relegated to the Divizia B at the end of the season:

• Sportul Studenţesc (relegated by FRF, because of financial problem)
• FCM Bacău (16th place of Divizia A)
