WikiProject Newsletter n°1
Bonjour and welcome to the first WikiProject France newsletter!! It should become a monthly special of our project, but until the next issue, here are some points to consider for the month:
- In an effort to determine the active members from the inactive, all members are asked to simply sign on my special userpage.
- I have slightly rearranged and updated the Project page, putting all the featured lists in collapsible tables. This unclutteres the page and you only have to see them if you want to. Give your feelings at the talk page.
- I have made a Wikipedia advert for our project, Image:Qxz-ad108.gif, what do you think? Personally I feel the words need improving ...
- There are still map problems at Template:French commune - any help at resolving them would be greatly appreciated.
- What about starting a monthly drive? We currently have no Featured Portals (except for the Basque Portal which really isn't French any way), so how about improving Portal:France??? I don't know what's exactly wrong but the criteria can be seen at Wikipedia:Featured portal criteria.
It doesn't seem like a lot, so I hope we will still have enough problems for nexts months issue. Salut till the next issue, ChrisDHDR (17:13, 10 November 2007 (UTC)).

WikiProject Newsletter n°2
It's been one high aiming month! The French WikiProject and related pages have been aiming high for Christmas - and have received an equal number of presents in return!
- The French Portal is now a Featured Portal!!! It passed its Candidacy with 100%. Special thanks go to NYArtsnWords and all those that have made this Portal work.
- The Newsletter has made it to a second issue. You can find its page at WikiProject France/Outreach/Newsletter and its archives at WikiProject France/Outreach/Newsletter/Archives.
- A new page has been setup (WikiProject France/Links) to provide an index of the Projects/Portals pages (as well as helping newbees). When creating any pages in the Project/Portal namespace, please add them to the index page. This page also give WP:FRANCE members a handy watchlist.
- As like last time, members are asked to renew their memberships at Wikipedia:WikiProject France/Members.
- I will be on holiday when the next issue is meant to come out so could some generous person(s) please do the next issue at Wikipedia:WikiProject France/Outreach/Newsletter.
Well, that's this issue. Au revoir et à bientôt till the next time, ChrisDHDR (18:59, 9 December 2007 (UTC)).
[edit] External map links
Hi! Thanks for creating new articles in Wikipedia. I noticed that they all have external links to map sites, in addition to the coordinates. Have you seen that when the {{coord}} template is used, it's possible to click on the coordinates and get a selection of map services appropriate for the area? To keep Wikipedia neutral and not support any single service over others, such links shouldn't be added to articles directly, and there is an active project for removing them from all articles. Is there any way you could clean them out from the articles you've created? If you have any questions, feel free to ask here, on my talk page, or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Geographical coordinates. --Para (talk) 19:11, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi - Yes, I've loads of links to map sites on the French communes I've copied / translated from fr:wiki where the links seem to be standard. I'll cut them out in all future editions. Those 250+ I've done will receive attention as and when I've time (unless you'd like to help !? ) Dickie (talk) 11:35, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- It would be a bit tedious to do manually, but shouldn't be too hard to have a bot do the job, as all the links are in the external links sections and each on a single line. All we need to make a bot request is a list of articles and beginnings of the links to remove. --Para (talk) 16:28, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Hello. You have been identified as having added or removed direct external map service links in articles. There is a discussion at Wikipedia talk:External links#Issues with inclusion or exclusion of map service links about which should be done, and some more opinions would be good to find community consensus. --Para (talk) 17:14, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] French Communes - Somme
Hi, I notice you are creating articles on communes in the Somme region. Would you be so kind as to add wikilinks to the Réseau des Bains de Mer and Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme articles as appropriate? Some of them have interwiklinks, so it will just be a case of changing them. Mjroots (talk) 13:28, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes - I can do that. Happily, I started with the A's and now I'm on the B's, It seems that none of the stations/lines ran through these first towns (Except perhaps Abbeville, which I haven't touched) Kind regards Dickie (talk) 13:53, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I've expanded those covered so far, but adding that info to the French articles is beyond my talents. Mjroots (talk) 15:46, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, any chance of a page to remove the redlinks to Population without double counting?
Mjroots (talk) 15:42, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi. Yes - that's a good idea. I seem to remember some discussion about this from some months ago, though. I'll check on that before going any further. Dickie (talk) 15:54, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Emery Molyneux: Translation of non-English terms
Hi, thanks very much for your help with the translation! I've updated the article accordingly. — Cheers, JackLee –talk– 14:34, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

I moved your question to the owner of a bot. I will keep you abreast. Yves-Laurent (talk) 19:39, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Vincent-Marie Viénot de Vaublanc
Bonjour. Aymeric78 (talk) 00:12, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ok thank you for your answer. The main problems are about the style and the prose of the article.see you soon Aymeric78 (talk) 14:04, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Awesome! I'd love various pictures of the Nungesser/Coli monument from different angles, plus anything around that's to do with L'Oiseau Blanc or Lindbergh. :) Will you also by any chance be in Paris? I'd like a photo of the Nungesser monument outside Le Bourget airport, too. And I hear there's a "Rue Nungesser et Coli", so a picture of a street sign would also be wonderful. :) --Elonka 14:19, 5 May 2008 (UTC) If you make it to Paris - Le Bourget Airport, here's what I'm looking for, pics of both the sculpture and the engraved text.[1] I'd also like a picture of the White Bird's landing gear from inside the Air & Space museum there, but I don't know what their photography policy is. --Elonka 14:43, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

- Beautiful photos, thank you so much for creating and uploading them! I now get a much better feel for the scope and look of the memorial. :) I've gone ahead and added them to the appropriate Commons categories, and will also add some to Wikipedia articles on both EN and FR. :) --Elonka 06:48, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
