In April 2006, Greg Bibb, president of Hantz Group Sports and Entertainment, introduced the new Major Indoor Soccer League expansion team, the Detroit Ignition. The team plays at the Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth Township, Michigan. The team began play in the 2006-2007 season.
