The Midwest Hockey League (MWHL) is an "A" level professional minor league hockey league which will play its inagural season, consisting of a 40-game schedule, in November 2008. The league anticipates having affiliations with "AA" hockey teams and leagues.

In its first season, the league will consist of six to eight teams. Prospective franchises will be located in Western Ohio, Indiana, Southern Michigan, Southeastern Wisconsin, Central and Eastern Illinois and Northern Kentucky.
