Template talk:Derefer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sad but necessary.
Some websites monitor and harvest referer links.
Mostly thats harmless, or merely annoying. It gets spam mail for instance. But on some controversial articles thats actually a problem for readers.
So a template to allow a link to be dereferred is important.
Not on many articles. But on some.
Sadly. FT2 (Talk) 13:20, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Looks good to me. Thanks for the template, FT2! --Iamunknown 18:33, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Template is broken
This template no longer functions, as ultimod.org is a dead website as of now. --Xyzzyplugh (talk) 16:25, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- I replaced ultimod.org with anonym.to. It currently works... hopefully it will continue to work. :) --Iamunknown 17:51, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Why?
I don't understand the reason for this at all? Why is it a problem if the site linked to can see that visitors are coming from here? Please explain. --Apoc2400 (talk) 22:49, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- I figured it out for the links to http://www.perverted-justice.com/ That page shows a different page when the referer is Wikipedia. I still don't know why it's used for the Zoophilia articles. --Apoc2400 (talk) 23:17, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
