Reply on my talk page. CIreland (talk) 14:42, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I've responded there too. --Iamunknown 05:20, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Advice about a page

What would I do with this? I think it's a pointless redirect. The page got moved, so now it redirects. Should I Prod it? I'm not really sure what procedure is. Thanks, Enigmaman (talk) 05:40, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

An admin saw it and deleted it. What is your opinion, though, on what proper procedure would be when seeing such a thing? Enigma message 16:58, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
If you encounter a redirect to a non-existent page, and determined that there are no odd circumstances (perhaps it was inappropriately re-directed from an existent to a non-existent page, or perhaps it was an article that was inappropriately re-directed to a non-existent page), I would recommend tagging it for speedy deletion - the page would qualify under WP:CSD#R1 ("Redirects to deleted pages and to nonexistent pages, ... ."), and could simply be tagged with the {{Db-r1}} template. --Iamunknown 05:16, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. :) By the way, I'm undergoing an Editor Review, if you care to comment. Enigma message Review 05:24, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know. I'll try to comment later this weekend. :-) --Iamunknown 05:33, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
One more thing: The redirect wasn't to a non-existent page. It was to an existing page, but it was a pointless redirect. Enigma msg Review 05:45, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh, okay. I read the deletion log summary (see here) and inferred (incorrectly) that it was a redirect to a non-existent page.
In the case of a nonsensical redirect, obviously it is not as clear-cut as otherwise. If it were very obviously non-sensical, I'd recommend asking an administrator on his or her talk page to delete it - otherwise take it to WP:RFD. The reason why I do not recommend tagging it for speedy deletion is because, as I recall, regulars at requests for adminship generally look poorly on mis-tagged candidates for speedy deletion, even if they were later deleted by an administrator. (I haven't been to WP:RFA for a while - this is just my recollection.) --Iamunknown 05:52, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
You are correct. It still holds true. I've been reading scores of RfAs recently (voting on only a few, but keeping tabs on a high percentage) and incorrectly tagging for speedy deletion is heavily frowned upon, presumably because RfA participants assume that if the user were an admin, he/she would delete those that he/she was tagging per CSD. I agree with your assessment not to tag for speedy deletion. Thanks again, Enigma msg Review 05:57, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] RfA

Haha. I didn't mean to sound like an ass, but the guy said that he had a problem that Bedford didn't know the policy, so when the guy told him about the policy, I just thought that should end his opposition... -- JTHolla! 09:46, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Two questions

1)Any idea why many of the archived reviews are indented?
2)here there's some kind of Potentialadmin template being applied to Dihydrogen Monoxide. The reality is, he's had 4 RfAs. Two are not showing up because they were under different usernames. Any way to fix this? Enigma message Review 04:58, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
The formatting at Wikipedia:Editor review/Archives appears to be used to distinguish between first and further requests - it isn't stated, but that is what I gather from looking at that page.
Regarding Wikipedia:List of non-admins with high edit counts, I suppose the previous RfAs could be added as a note without the use of a template, or the template could be modified to take additional parameters to allow for previous user names. --Iamunknown 15:31, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
I suppose. How would I go about editing the template? Enigma message Review 18:34, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Hmm... on second thought, per the KISS principle, I think it might be better to keep it simple and add custom text, as opposed to changing the template. It would certainly make customisation easier. :-)
Regarding templates in general, however, I would recommend fully utilising a sandbox in your user space, and learning by example (by looking at the source code of other templates). Template programming can be tricky. --Iamunknown 18:42, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Using this old thread to let you know that I intend to go through the RfA process in two weeks or so. Enigma message 23:41, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know, I'll see if I can pop in later and comment! :) --Iamunknown 23:59, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
That was interesting. I had just checked your talk page two minutes ago to see if you had replied, and then your reply shows up on my watchlist. :) Enjoy the weekend. Enigma message 00:00, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! You too. --Iamunknown 00:01, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Response

Well, better late than never, I guess. I'm sorry, what with one thing and another I just forgot about this... Esn (talk) 00:56, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

No problem, I was glad to offer help! :) --Iamunknown 23:58, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Argh!

Yeah sorry about that. My brother logs on to my CPU once in a while and I just caught him now. Sorry, KBW1 17:19, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Haha no it's me, not to be rude or anything, but do I know you? -- KBW1 17:30, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh, well nice to meet you! :) You edit Michael Jackson? , is that how you found me? -- KBW1 16:44, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your comment at Engima RfA

I noted your fair comment at the discussion part of Engima's RfA - but, I hope you don't me asking - Are you going to !vote also?--VS talk 11:49, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Eh, possibly. I don't regularly vote (though I have indeed done so in the past) because I don't really like the RfA voting system. I'll think about it while I'm out today and then perhaps come back and throw in a proper vote. --Iamunknown 16:52, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Cheers - thanks for answering - hope to see you back later.--VS talk 22:11, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the comment, at the very least! :) All the best, Enigma message 03:39, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Ta! Just commented. :) --Iamunknown 03:59, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks again and also from me. Best regards.--VS talk 11:11, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
